Based on return for Iginla/Jagr/Bouwmeester, should VAN be ticked it had to surrender Connauton? Their No. 1 'D' prospect in Future Watch.
I'd say Corrado is better then Connauton. Just my opinion obviously..

Holzer is a good player to hold onto, coach him up he has a mean streak in him similar to Fraser, unlike the rest of our soft defenders. I wish we kept Aulie for the same reason, hold on to those guys and see if they can make the jump in a year or two, if they do they will be tough to play against.

I would love Gio or even Robidas, both are a big upgrade over Costco err Kostka(thanks Doug MacLean). And then we can just rotate Liles/Gardiner in and out of the line up.

Fair enough.. Maybe there were more teams in on Roy then JBo and Iginla? I mean there's not very many teams that want to pay JBo's salary and we know the two teams in on Iginla. Feaster fails.

Or maybe we should look at their history of injuries. Do you think being plagued with injuries influences a player's worth and tests a GM's patience? Brad Boyes has barely scratched his knuckle his entire career, and still nobody seems to want him. Weird.

Let's see if Brad can make it 7 teams this offseason. Pretty impressive for a 40 goal scorer. We all know Lupul is going nowhere for a long time.

I don't see the leafs making any moves. I would like the Kipper rumours to be true, depending on the price, but he has been bad this year and Reimers been decent, so I don't know.

I just noticed a lot of good info in there that would be of interest to those in here.

I think since it's a GDT, that should only be for news articles and twitter posts. I don't really see the need for both threads with the same content, mostly speculation

I see people saying that there's a high price on rentals this season.

Am I the only one thinks some of these deals are dirt cheap? I mean, other than the Pens deals, the market seems pretty cheap.

I would've easily traded a 2nd + Blacker for Roy, IF we needed that 2nd line C.

Yeah, it's definitely a buyer's market. The prospects have been underwhelming for sure.

Leafs already made their trade by getting Lupul back in the line-up healthy!

The only trade I'd make is for a player that will help us in the long term. I.E young player for young player. I'm not into rentals at all, not with this current team.

I wouldn't mind Kipper for cheap though, not for what he'll do this year(because I want him to be a backup) but what he can do for us moving forward, both regaining his game and mentoring Reimer!

My whole post was based on deadline deals costing teams good young assets as well as draft picks.

Brad Boyes statistically has the been the highest scoring Leaf draft pick taken in the past 25 years. He was simply tossed away for 48 points of Owen Nolan at a deadline. Brad Boyes playing along Sundin may have put up consistent 30 goal seasons.

The moral of the story was the best deals are ones often a GM doesn't make as 20/20 hindsight usually confirms. It was a rebuttal to a post suggesting the trade deadline is going to suck , if Leafs are not active.

Canucks have either pushed themselves into a corner, or have a deal ready for Luongo.

Their AGM Gillman just went on radio and said they're not done whatsoever.

Said one or two more deals will probably get done by them.

Well the Leafs were scouting the Stars for a while and if they weren't trying to hard for Roy, perhaps Robidas was the real target. We'll see what happens tomorrow

nobody is, or ever will be, upset that we traded boyes, or ever consider it a mistake.

Yeah, dirt cheap a lot of them, I agree. I'd easily do a 2nd+mediocre prospect or 4th for Robidas, Morris. These types of guys are of great need to us right now. Kostka and an injury-plagued Gunnar aren't going to cut it in the POs

you can hardly compare the situations those two Leaf teams were in.

For the Nolan trade, Leafs are perennial contenders, win at least one round every year (thanks Ottawa)...Nolan was a top winger and was to be put with Sundin in hopes they would lead the way to the SC final.

If Nonis went and traded a first rounder, top forward prospect (Colborne?) and a good two way centre(Bozak/Grabo) for a bruising winger, I'm sure we would all be kinda upset.

Saw this on the Trade board, both Philly and Toronto fans liked it.

Couturier + 2nd + 4th

Gardiner + 1st

Kadri/Couturier down the middle is strong. We'd have Rielly coming up next year too.

I just really hope we don't deal for an aging netminder..I'll be fine as long as we don't do that.
