PollakOnSharks
SJSharks noting they now hold ten picks in 2013 NHL Draft: 1st, 2nd, 2nd (NYR), 2nd (PIT), 3rd (FLA), 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th (ANA).

TSN is saying that the Canucks had a very similar offer on the table and DW gave Clowe the choice where he wanted to play (he had to).

I bet DW wishes he had 10 picks back in 2003. Good to see he's learned something from that.

Good choice Clowe. Would hate to see you in a Canucks uniform.

One nice thing is it seems that many rangers fans in the trade forum think they got a bad deal too. It must mean that each team did alright.

With joking aside, Doug made the right move getting picks instead of loser prospects like Calgary and Dallas.

Agreed. Although let's hope he doesn't draft loser prospects with those picks.

Stupid question: The conditional is for 2014, right?

Also, I'm assuming that both parties are pretty confident that he will resign, so we shouldn't be too concerned about the 2nd turning into a 5th?

This season has revitalized my faith in Doug Wilson as a general manager. He has restocked a weak prospect pool with immediate draft picks in a heralded draft year, while doing little-to-no damage to the team's chances of success in the playoffs this year.

Amazing job, all things considered.

I don't think that's 3 and he traded to get Winnik for christs sake.

That's not fair, because not signing Winnik led to 4 years of Burish.

Iginla for a first, and two "B/C" level prospects.

In comparison, the Clowe trade looks great. There is just the idea that DW could have gotten more for him had he dealt him sooner. Maybe Clowe choose NYR (2nd, 3rd, cond) vs Vancouver (1st plus Jensen)...
I think it's pretty unanimous that VAN wasn't offering that package IMO

Poor Burish. With all of Clowe, Murray and Zeus gone, he's gonna get all the hate on this board directed to him. Well, him and DW for those that think every other move he makes is worth his firing.

PollakOnSharks 5:17pm via Web GM Wilson stresses #SJSharks like depth of 2013 draft, but that doesn't mean he won't trade away some picks to move up for targeted player.

Anyone want to guess who gets the away "A" on their jersey? Do you think Marleau will take over full time "A" or will someone like Couture or Pavs get a leadership role?
