I guess it's worth the investment if he puts his game back together and becomes worth re-signing. But needless to say it's a bit hard to imagine him being the piece that puts this team over the top this year. Weird little deal.

Hearing going back the other way to Sharks from Rangers is two 2nds and a conditional 2nd if he resigns with Rangers.

If that's the return, should have just kept him. Doug Wilson should be fired in the offseason before he does anymore damage to this team.

I'm sure he will pick up his game, like Gomez, Richards and holik. rangers are a graveyard for overpriced talent.

Thank goodness. Really didn't want Clowe in Van.

Now go get me Glencross!

Thats how you build a great hockey team. Large prospect pool that you can take advantage of in the future when they pay dividends for your team or as a great bargaining chip. A drafted decent prospect is worth much more than a 2nd pick or a rental piece on a team that is succeeding without him.

I actually think Ryane Clowe has some qualities the Rangers need, but he does have fewer goals than Martin Brodeur.

Complete bull ****. They wouldn't give the A to him if he was a locker room cancer

Why was anybody expecting more than this for pending UFA who's having a miserable offensive season? Some of y'all have no concept of trade value.

I don't know how anyone could expect a high end prospect in any trade similar to what has already happened.
They bought into the crazy rumored deals like Couturier and Jensen and a 1st rounder were equal value for Clowe. Not really their fault I guess.

I know people won't see it this way, but its good for the Sharks. They no prospect pool. This will help them.

Sharks loading up on 2nds?

Honestly, if the Sharks had no intention of re-signing him, not a bad deal at all. But, definitely was expecting a lot more personally.

Good deal for Rangers for sure, though. Even if he doesn't add in the scoring department (Though I think he most definitely will), Rangers add much needed depth. A lot tougher to play against, that's for sure.

Potentially 3 2nd round picks for Clowe? And what if that 3rd round pick is from Florida?

Pretty solid price to pay.

He's had the A for a while, has he not? And I know he's publicly spoken out about teammates' work ethics in the past (although I think was referring more to Heatley than anyone else). But I don't think it's impossible.

Not that he's a cancer... Let's just say that him and Jumbo have different styles, and I'm not sure Clowe appreciates Thornton's "new school" demeanor.

If I had to choose between them based on disposition alone, I'm pretty sure I'd go with Clowe. All other things are not equal there though, obviously.
