I'd have given up a 3rd for the Ginga Ninja.

Although didnt the Sharks just reacquire a poor man's Clowe?

Appears deadline will pass with #Isles inactive. Were only interested in hockey deals, not rentals, couldn't find a fit. On we go.
------

Garth's wireless provider must be issuing credits for unused minutes.

Not that I was expecting much from the Islanders, but it would have been nice to grab a back-up goalie. Or Luongo.

I hope Garth is active in the offseason. I think we're in a position to move young players and picks for quality NHL talent, as much as we love our prospects.

Basically, Jaffe put it perfectly saying it's Clowe for Torres, and since Clowe hasn't been Clowe this year it's not a bad replacement.

With the Cap going down after the season, this must be the plan. Garth again is going bargain hunting.

And I'm fine with this, Garth is building internally, we are starting to see the payoff and we will be ripe to receive players this off-season (which is the biggest for the Isles in a LONG time)
Am I the only one who's sick of that phrase? "Hockey deals". No one ever used it, and now it's all you hear. It doesn't even capture what they're trying to say. Is a trade for a draft pick or a prospect a basketball deal?

So I guess we never had to trade for Tim Thomas.

Except to toll his contract and gain "flexibility" for next season.

Considering the prices paid for players this year, we should feel good about acquiring the now-extended Vis for "just" a single 2nd round pick.

Didn't it give us the flexibility to send down Rick?

the Rags will trade Brassard+Moore+Thomas for Yandel

the Pens will trade Maata+Bennet+Zlobin+1st for Bobby Ryan..

We will resign Boyes for 2.5 mil per and have a the talents of Tavares wasted by guys who suck the life out of his game..

I really hope we make some moves this summer..

Im not really upset that we didnt make any moves now, but i will be if we go into next year will our prospects and own UFA's...

He's going to sign with the Isles during the off-season and share a house with Nabby and Vis.

I'd like to see how Garth is going to operate this summer. I agree with IR4, he could make some moves for NHL players.

I hope the Isles make the playoff just for the reason some of the doom and gloom goes away. Look around at some of the deals today. I'm happy the isles did nothing.

It may be one of the moves of the year so far, by anyone.

Didn't expect much for us today, the offseason is where Snow is going to have to justify his job title.

Some really wacky stuff today.

I like that deal for both sides....

Moore makes someone like MDZ expendable and Rangers were concerned with dumping salary. They found the opportunity and did it. Brassard is whatever and Dorsett is injured. As for Columbus, they add top line talent/scoring. Something they needed for a playoff push. And the parts they moved for him were all expendable.

Back to us. Was really hoping we'd go after a goalie. Glad we avoided Mason and Bishop's cost would've been too steep, but I would've been okay with Griess or Clemmenson. That was my only move I wanted to make. Okay with keeping Streit. This playoff push is too valuable to trade him off now.

Don't forget: the Isles transmit trades to the NHL offices using their 14kbps Konica dialup thermal fax machine (on a shared line with their phone). So long as they initiiated the call before 3pm we could still see a trade announced up till around 5pm.

Hard to see how the Gaborik move does not help teams like the Devils/Isles/Caps for now...long term it may work for the Rags but I've got no problem with the fact they lost an "elite forward" for a grinder with some scoring touch for the final 2 weeks.

Probably not a bad move, if he shows up its great, if he decides to play as he did when he was in NY you can simply healthy scratch him as needed in the playoffs.
