Maybe, but with the way it's talked about on the trade board that doesn't seem to be a widely held opinion. As a Nucks fan I'd much rather take back a back contract for a buy out than retain salary. The Canucks owner has tons of money and makes tons of money off the team so I would hope he's willing to spend some bucks to get the Canucks out of the Luongo situation by improving the team.

If the Canucks got Nielsen and maybe one of the Islanders' prospects like Ullstrom, Donovan, or de Haan (not really sure how much these guys are valued) I'd be very pleased.

The Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo line is arguably the isles best line with their aggressive forechecking and defense.
I'd rather just see the isles buyout DiPietro. Take that $1.5m hit and turn the page.

After being burned on the Yashin+DiPietro deals, I'd be surprised if Wang greenlighted another longterm deal.
