my impression was that he was due back for the playoffs... and in that case what will give you a better chance to win

kesler and the winger they have needed since the finals year, or kesler, roy, and the same issue on the wing... personally I believe if you are still considering contending this year and next, clowe with an extension is exactly what vancouver needs. this is also why I asked if clowe had any influence on this. do you think you're going to sign Roy? I think there are other options available to go after for third line center depth than roy

when kesler is back..is roy the third line center that great teams need? I really don't think so

this is all contingent on what else mike gillis does...but i believe clowe with extension is the better and more important option for Vancouver not just this year but moving forward

Its not that hard to have more assists than goals when you have 0 goals

Step=Stepan? Stepan is slow. Richards is slow. Girardi, Boyle, Eminger, Pyatt, Asham, Hamrlik, etc.

The team is slow. That 40-50% of the roster is not slow means other half is slow. That's a bad ratio of slow guys to fast or average guys and adding Clowe, who is very, very slow, makes it a little bit worse, which they do not need.

His foot is no longer broken and has been cleared for practice. I think Gillis said he'll be back in a week.

Overpayment in a 'winning the cup' trade when we're in no position to win it all.

When I first heard the Canucks weren't getting Clowe I was dissapointed but after looking at what the Rangers gave up, I'm glad we didn't trade for him.

Kinda off topic but oh well.

Oilers/Penguins/Blackhawks/etc. Any team that goes through a scorched earth rebuild gets hated on

Its actually pretty funny. They get so excited with their shiny new toy and then it blows up in their face.

The thing is there's just no middle ground.

Hagelin, Kreider, Nash, Gaborik, Callahan, Powe and McDonagh can all fly. Literally everyone else is slow as ****.

Paid a little much, but could be a solid move for nyr.

Too early to say, but looking slam dunk for sharks, incredible return.

Just glad the Habs didn't get the top 6 grinder they wanted.

Clowe is a good playoff warrior and a perfect Torts player.

At least there is absolutely zero chance we end up with another Hugh Jessiman.

Rangers are getting a legit NHL power forward. Clowe is a man, not a boy like a Zach Kassian. I'll be shocked if NY fans still hate this move next week.

Seriously, can't wait to see him fight Lucic. Very pleased with the draft picks as well now that I've had time to cool off.

The thing is we get alot of these names when they're just names. Most of them are after their primes. Richards is declining, Clowe is declining. Drury, Gomez, Naslund, Redden. Hell you can even go back to Phil Esposito and Boom Boom Geoffrion. All players who are/were on the downside of quality careers.

And then there's Gaborik. He's just weird.

We do it because our offensive drafting sucks. Always has. 87 years we've been around and we've never drafted an elite offensive forward. That's not hyperbole. Seriously, NEVER. You could look it up.

So we rarely get offensive elites in their primes. We had Jagr during his second wind and he had the best season in Rangers history. We have Nash in his prime and he's hovering around a point per game. But it doesn't happen often. It's hard. To get a player in his prime you need to draft him or trade quality drafted assets which are hard enough to come by, especially for us because we suck it.

It's poor drafting that leads us to buy all these guys that are in their 30's and really not that good anymore.

Eh, Clowe's shooting percentage is going to rebound and Sather will look like a genius for fleecing the Sharks. The truth will be somewhere in between.

Seriously, I'm calling a hat trick in his first game as a Ranger.

If he takes on Lucic I'll build a shrine to him. I've had enough of his monkey ass. Don't play Boston again though, so we'd have to resign him.
