As a Sharks fan I hope he does, its not like we are bitter towards him and he wanted out of SJ

SJ has their own pick...what could have caused the confusion?

Sounds like they will re-sign him so not really a make or break deal. Rangers have obviously had non-existant secondary scoring and this could help a lot. Seemingly going by the philosophy that if you get in, you can win.

personally I think Vancouver dropped the ball on this 1

is Roy what they need... No

clowe is what they needed.... I haven't read through the other trade thread.. nor this 1... so unless clowe had influence on this trade and did not want to go to Vancouver... gillis got the wrong player for half the value

Awards:
People criticized the Rangers all year long for not having enough character...they got a boatload in Clowe, and for a very reasonable price. Wish the Habs had pulled the trigger at that cost.

I'm disappointed we didn't get a proven asset, wether a good bottom-6 roster player or a solid prospect. I have a feeling DW is going to bundle his picks to move up in the draft, or flip them for a good young player.

Or perhaps he intends on getting all 30 2nd round picks in the draft.

That's what I'm thinking too. I asked Bobby Mac and Lebrun about it, but no one ever answers me.

Moving up in the draft is a classic DW move, I would bank on it

Both would have been nice but top six center > struggling top 6 grinder.

whats the rangers biggest need? For me eatching all season is a real big body who plays hard and can put up points. Boyel, pyatt and Kreider just have not done that. This team needs a big guy who plays with some toughness........I think this adresses it well. his point totals over his career cant be overlooked........especially if hes helathy.

So San Jose is basically trying to reload now? Move some of the older guys and get younger while they are a playoff team. Definitely interested to see how things work out for them going forward.

The more overdue someone is for a goal, the less likely they are to ever score again on the Rangers.

I like it as a Sharks fan but it doesn't makes sense for the Rangers. Clowe is a good player, but it won't matter with Tortorella behind the bench.

Nope.
One look at the Canucks' centre depth with Kesler out and no competent third line centre and you should understand why we needed Roy more than Clowe

Sather did a terrible job filling hole in the offseason......the Rangers needed somebody like this. Question is, did they pay a little too much?

For me......as long as he is healthy, i'd kick the tires on him and see about a 3-4 contract after this year is up.
THIS!!!

Have to laugh at the people posting about helping with our scoring issues.

Torts style is a lunch pale one and we have sorely lacked what Dubinsky and Prust brought to the lineup and hopefully Clowe brings that once again.

Clowe is a heart and soul player whose compete level is through the roof. A genuine middle-tier power forward. Fantastic complimentary player.

Concerns with him are injuries and declining speed/scoring. He dipped to 45 points last year and is down again this season despite playing on an offensively explosive team. If the ugly trend continues he'll be a very expensive third grinder.

No..we need someone who can score consistently. What Rangers are you watching?

And people are saying he's injured and slow. Which further makes this, overall, a dumb move.

Clowe's going to be glued to the 3rd/4th line and play 5-8 minutes a night. I don't understand what this was for unless Sather is trying to flip Clowe and some lesser players for a ton of picks.

Rags fans will LOVE Clowe. Good luck to him. I'd put money on him being a force down the stretch and scoring 20 next year.

Really hope the MTL rumour was a lie for Sharks fans sake. Leblanc + Calgary 2nd would have been a much better return.

The Sharks have been one of the lowest scoring teams in the league this season. The system was a mess, another reason for Clowe's slump.

The Rangers are 30th in the league in goals. Do I need to spell out what their biggest need is?

Clowe does not address that need, obviously, he has 0.

sorry man, this team has scoring..........they just arent doing it and you aint getting an elite player on this team at the deadline. The rangers are lacking toughness and spark plug players. you need to realize whats missing. they have plenty of guys able to score.
