Kovalchuk is older and not as good as in the Atlanta days plus he pretty much is the stereotypical heartless Russian who is only in it for the money.
he just walked away from 77 million dollars...... try again

Yes, he retired, no Patrick Kane is not better then him.

And all this clutch bull, give me a call when Kane leads his team in scoring with a broken back.

If he stayed in jersey, the total money of the contracts would result in Kovy getting more if he stayed.

I'd rather have Patrick Kane for sure. Kovalchuck is just a tired russian back in the KHL, his level of hockey will drop so quick that even Calgary would not take him anymore on their 4th line. He's probably going to enjoy his new salary and eat pretty much at the resto bar of Petersbourg or idk what city. On the other side, We got patrick Kane, young, talented, and recently winner of the playoffs MVP. You can't compare.

EDIT: open back the poll and lets see now !

Wow. How can you even say that? Kovy would retire before he starts on the 4th line .

But no, I don't think kovalchuk will ever decline that much. He's a freak of nature. He's too damn good. As for the poll results being different if the poll opened up again, I think most people still say Kovy is better and still take him on their team over Kane.

I can tell you one thing, the hawks would not trade Kane for two Kovalckuks, at least I would not.

I'd go with Patrick Kane myself. Pretty similar in what they bring to a team despite different styles.
