Since Ovechkin plays RW now, I would say Hall is the most dynamic LW in the game right now, no? I mean Kunitz and Moulson are beating him in points, but he seems to do the most for his team.

He's up there forsure. I don't see how they can leave him off the Sochi 2014 team with the way he's been playing.

THE most dynamic? Homer.

Amongst the best? sure.

Top LW's in the league: Zetterberg, Vanek, Nash, Neal, Semin, Parise, Sedin, Kovalchuk, Pacioretty, Kane... Hall belongs in there, but to say that he's the best is a stretch.

At risk of gathering the ire of those who seem to want to jump on enthusiasm here, I think he's playing himself into the conversation.

The recent Puck Daddy MVP watch on Yahoo had the following discussion:

Quote:
Hart Trophy
1. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins (25)
2. Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks (20)
3. Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks (9)
4. Nazem Kadri, Toronto Maple Leafs (7)
5. Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning (6)
Crosby continues to lead the pack for the MVP honors, although one wonders how a prolonged absence to injury would affect that. Kane is the clear second choice ahead of conference rival Getzlaf. But look what we have here: Nazem Kadri of the Leafs, stating his case with 39 points in 36 games. Stamkos just edged both John Tavares and Jonathan Toews for the No. 5 hole.
link

I don't think Wyshinshki's on the level of the elite hockey writers, but he's no hack and Yahoo's coverage and overall staff are pretty solid.

And they're talking about guys like Tavares and Kadri here. If you can talk about guys like Tavares and Kadri, you can probably talk about Hall, especially if the Oilers hold a playoff spot after tonight.

He's not going to win, but you can start to talk about him and not be an idiot homer. He's in the conversation.

Edit: For the record, I think it's Crosby's award. I think that 'most valuable to the team' is to be read as synonymous with 'best player in the league' and I think there's no doubt whatsoever that the answer to that question is Crosby this year.

Every game the Pens lose secures more votes for Crosby. Nonetheless, Hall should get some top-5 votes, which would be the first in a while for an Oilers' player.

3 games less than Kadri
Hall has more points.

It's stupid to say he's in Hart discussion, but he should be there instead of Nazem the dream..

Who am I kidding.

Kadri's amazing.

Hall is absolutely amazing right now.

Points per game right now goes 1) Crosby 2) Stamkos 3) Hall

Want to hear something wild? Gregor just suggested there's an OUTSIDE chance that if Crosby stays out, and Hall stays on this pace, he could take the Art Ross. That's extreme. But it's amazing to just think about.

If you're counting Ovechkin as a RW, I'd feel fairly safe in saying that Hall is the best LW in the game right now.

I would say if Edmonton can win the division Hall has a good shot at the Hart. But to be honest I'm not concerned about the scoring race. I would much rather Crosby win the Hart and Hall winn the Conn Smythe.

Its ridiculous to think that Hall shouldn't be in the conversation. 7th in scoring, only 2 players with more pts/game in league, basically hauling a club on his back down this stretch.
If the Oilers make the playoffs in the very tough WC damn straight Hall should be in the conversation. With any justice. Then again if he's playing in Toronto, or in the East, he'd have been in the convo all year.

Kadri my ass.

I asked this on the main board -
Do the Penguins make the playoffs without Crosby? Yes.
Are the Oilers a lottery team without Hall? Yes.

Who has the biggest impact? Hall

If they make the playoffs I think he should get some serious consideration

Unbelievable night... I was one dampening the enthusiasm... Apologies. But who'd have expected a 5 point night?!?!

If he continues the 1.2+ pace he's had all season, he could take the art Ross... Amazing for a 20 year old!

His passing tonight was sublime at times. Hard, crisp and accurate for the most part and then soft placement on one of Eberle's goals.

I think the Hart is overly optimistic, but Hall as arrived.

If Nuge and Yakupov develop as well as Hall has, this team will be Pittsburgh-West for a long time (or, you know, Tampa ).

Hall has now risen to league wide prominence and if he keeps this up...sky's the limit.

If he slows down...just a tad...he's going to end up somewhere in the top 10 for scoring and while thats an excellent season its not nearly enough for the Hart Trophy.

I think if Crosby stays out for awhile...the voters might have to start to seriously consider whomever is the Norris winner also a Hart winner.

And at the moment...that would be.... PK Subban?

Really?
