Those are the only three trades between the two.

Long enough ago that it really shouldn't count, but a clear win for Ottawa, IMO

Cory Stillman/Mike Commodore <-> Patrick Eaves/Joe Corvo
Meh. Commodore was awful, and a grade-A jackhole, but Stillman was OK. Eaves has been invisible since leaving Ottawa, and Corvo is Corvo. As a rental deal, I've seen way, way worse.

Matt Cullen <-> Alexandre Picard
Cullen > Picard so hard. So, so hard...

So based on that history, and if you assume past history has any relevance at all (which it most likely doesn't), maybe a Carolina deal might work out after all?

that record with carolina is clearly 2-0-1 in favour of ottawa.

I tracked down the article I read metioning Omark, it was a HockeyBuzz thingamajig.

Quote:
Linus Omark for a 3rd round pick. Rumor is he'd be able to return to the NHL in time for the playoffs. Maybe Boston would be interested? Or Detroit? Omark lead the Swiss League in scoring, so someone would give up something for him.
I like the idea of picking up someone young for cheap. I think he'd be in the NHL today if not for EDM's young forward depth. What does CanadianHockey think of young Linus?

Matt Cullen maybe? But I thought he played really well for us. We also acquired Mike Commodore in the Stillman deal.

Isn't the problem with Omark that, because he played in another league this season, he can't play in the NHL this year without first clearing waivers?

Basically, what would have happened to O'Reilly had the Avs not matched the Flames offer sheet.

I don't think he's a good reclamation project. Too predictable at the NHL level, and didn't readily adopt a two-way game when he couldn't crack Edmonton's top-6.

Dang. I liked what I saw from him in my limited viewings.

I have a hunch Bishop goes to Phoenix, Calgary, or Philadelphia.

That's just a hunch.

It's called "listening to your sports gut" now, Manked.

Amen!

Do I trust my sport gut in the future if Bishop doesn't get traded?

Bob McKenzie said on TSN that he thinks the Sens are getting calls that would give the Sens more than the second round pick they gave up. He said a second and a prospect or they might even have an offer for a first.

He doesn't think Bishop will be moved at the deadline, but if he could be if Murray gets a really good offer. I guess we'll find out shortly.

I sense that Murray will not make a single move.

Nothing we didn't already know. Only playoff-bound teams are desperate the time of year though, so I don't see any crazy offers coming through for Bishop.

Phoenix are only 2 points out of a playoff spot right now, and a goalie might be the difference between getting a playoff spot or getting an early tee time.

Calgary, despite clearly not being a playoff team right now, might be in on Bishop because: Feaster.

Philly... they might be a player now if they
a) like Bishop, and
b) think they might miss their chance if they wait until the draft for Bish.

New Jersey might be a Bishop suitor, for the same reasons Philly might be (like him, want him to be mentored under Brodeur for a season, but fear Bish might be gone if they wait too long).

The logic that teams will bite out of fear that they will miss their chance works, but only if there is at least one team willing enough to bite otherwise.... which could be Phoenix.

I suppose Calgary could be significantly interested too if Kiprusoff is moved, which is very possible.

Yeah I guess you could be right then. If we can get Phoenix's first rounder, that's obviously an excellent deal for us.

If Murray has an offer for a first round pick, he should take it and run. Bishop's value isn't likely to get higher once Andy's back, and that first is likely going to be in the 10-20 range, given the teams that currently need goalies.

In such a top-heavy draft, a first round pick would be amazing.

Hell, even if the pick is in the 20-30 range, Murray would still be flipping a 2nd in a weak draft for a 1st in a stronger draft. And given the premiums paid for 1st round draft picks this year, that first would probably be a lot more useful trade bait than Bishop if Murray is looking to add someone this year. Hell, Jagr and Iginla both went straight up for VERY late firsts plus terrible prospects, and I can't see Bishop bringing back that kind of return on his own.

Mid first rounder is pretty crazy. Bishop is a good goalie, can be an average NHL starter but a top 20 pick in 2013 is a supreme value.

In that range we are talking Shinkaruk, Wennberg, Gauthier, Mantha, Lazar, Rychel etc...

My choice would be Gauthier but that's just because 6'5 players who skate like him don't grow on trees - plus he's a ppg rookie in the Q, what would he be a year from now?

I'll reserve my judgement on Puempel until we see him at the AHL level. He has underperformed and yet remained in the top 30 in goal scoring for the most part during his OHL career so I think that if you put him with the sens development staff in bingo for a year you might be surprised - especially given that by all accounts he's a real character guy.

If Jim O'Brien can be turned into nhl player then anything is possible

Would be nice to see the Sens make a couple NHL trades because there have been a lot of who cares AHL trades. I could see Bishop, Regin and Lundin going and maybe Benoit and JOB. Although it seems like Murray doesn't want to do anything, which I'm okay with even though TRADECENTRE will probably be very boooooooring.
