Does LA have pieces to move if needed at the deadline?

Wanted a more direct thread than the rumors thread.

IF we are in a position to add come the deadline, (a) do we have anything to move and (b)what kind of player would we be looking at?

Do the Kings target a UFA or a player who will stick around for awhile?

I ask because I think the Kings really do not have much they can part with.

Richardson
Penner
King (for the right deal)
Martinez
DD44
Ellerby
I think they are more valuable to LA than what they may bring back in a trade

Bernier shouldn't be moved out until the Draft
We have no 1st to move

I really don't want to see Vey, Toffoli, or Pearson moved

Forbort in my eyes could be moved for the right piece given our depth on D

Not a big deal but I'd be surprised if we bring in any kind of impact player this year...if we even need too.

Think the Kings will have a busy draft day tho...wouldn't mind kicking tires on Perry as well to see if he wants to play with his Kingly friends.....or not

I agree with the premise that we're basically looking at the team we will see in April.

Most likely deal would be a for a gritty veteran for the 3rd/4th line - Clutterbuck or Morrow -type, with some combo of the guys you listed going the other way.

I think we have to keep AMart. As good as he's been, he hasn't even sniffed his potential. Probably same with Muzz.

All of our young forwards on ELC's will be needed in the coming seasons, and Bernier should be retained until the offseason given the up and down play of both goalies. I think other than possibly Greene and/or Mitchell returning at some point, we stand fast. If one of them comes back, I think Ellerby could be packaged with a pick or two.

I like AMart but if Muzzin can improve/maintain I think it makes him some what redundant and a trade chip if needed, especially when Greene returns.

Not sure how much value Amart has around the league tho, guess alot will depend on Scuderi resigning as well. Could possibly be shopped at the draft.

With no Scuderi or Mitchell

Doughty Muzzin
Greene Voynov
Amart Ellerby
Drewiskie

looks alot better with Scuds & Amart honestly
DD Greene
Scuderi VV
AMart Muzz
Ellerby

Sure we do. But until we know for sure if/when Greene and Willie will return, it's hard gauge which position we need to acquire/upgrade.

Reports indicate Greene should be back for the playoffs if all goes well.

Mitchell I think is done imho. It would be bigger than any trade we can make to get him back and healthy.

Who would you move out?

this.
And we won't trade a roster player unless it is a decent upgrade. I say picks for a depth forward. Unless of course Green an or Mitchel is back then a D might be traded. Scuderi and a pick can get us a nice forward.

Alec Martinez is back and while Matt Greene remains out for a while, veteran shutdown man Willie Mitchell -- who hasn’t played this season while recovering from knee surgery -- might be back, which would be like a huge trade-deadline addition in itself for L.A.

"He’s making progress," Lombardi said Tuesday of Mitchell. "We’re getting some encouraging news. There’s a chance he’ll play [this season]. I certainly can’t go to the marketplace and trade for a Willie Mitchell."

If we pick up someone, it'll likely be a forward for the top 3 lines who can score a goal. Outside of Carter, we don't have a lot of natural goalscorers, just a lot of good goalscorers like Brown, Kopitar, Richards, etc. No one who can really put it home on a regular basis after Carter.

But I don't think we'll add anyone who isn't a UFA after the season, as we are really cap tight next year. So naturally big name rentals like Iginla and Perry come to mind. Iginla makes the most sense as they need a goalie long-term and we have Bernier, but unless Calgary has a major ***** for Bernier, then they likely could get more than they could from us.

So I see us going for a 2nd tier guy like Jagr, Teemu, etc. (assuming those teams are sellers) Someone who won't cost us a ton but could provide some goals.

Of course all of this changes if Mitchell and/or Greene can't return before the playoffs, and Muzzin/Ellerby/etc. fall off.

I don't think you can trade Scuds even if he walks as a UFA. He is that important to our D.

I can see DL possibly trading for a stay-at-home type of dman as an insurance, but he's not going to overpay for anyone imo. As for which pieces may be moved, it's really depends. If one of Willie or Greene were to return for certain, DL may opt to move one of our young dmen.

I think Stoll can get a good late 2nd or 3rd. Don't teams usually over pay for great faceoff players ie gaustad.

I wouldn't touch our defense just yet, but maybe Scuderi if willie or Greene is coming back because I don't want to lose Scuds for nothing.

Penner always gives me issues cause sometimes I want him gone and sometimes I want to keep him.

Lewis is proving that he actually has hands so I think he secured himself for thus season.

Stoll / drewiske/Richardson maybe king if it was a good 2nd liner coming in a package. If quick gets into god mode again I think bernier might be moveable. But I think we'd hold on for this one year.

I think we can actually get a solid winger on the first line with a Williams and Stoll in the same trade. Top 6 potential trade right?

We signed Stoll for the playoffs.

As much as I dislike Stoll we aren't getting rid of our best faceoff guy. Not right now anyway. Same goes for trading Williams and breaking up our top line. Not right now.

Yes, Stoll is our best faceoffman and also very good penaltykiller and defensively reliable center.

If trade Stoll, who gets his icetime? Fraser? If somebody says Linden Vey, must be joking. Vey has enough skill, speed and hockeysense, but he needs to add 10-15 pounds muscle and improve his faceoffskills a lot, before he can play regurarly in the NHL.

Pretty much. The only young defensemen I would be willing to move if Mitchell and/or Greene make it back this season is Ellerby and/or Drewiske.

Scuderi and Mitchell aren't going to be around forever. Muzzin is looking like he is capable of being at least a good 5/6 and PP defenseman, and we need to keep what we have in the pipeline to ensure that we get at least one of those home grown guys to the Kings' roster in the next couple of seasons.

I don't see Dean moving any of our forwards that other teams would have an interest in unless he is making a deal where we are getting a young forward that is an upgrade.

If one of Mitchell and Greene, or both are back by the deadline I could see DL looking into moving Scuds if his un-Scuds like play continues, highly unlikely but I could see it.

No point in making moves for the sake of making moves

Just leave the team as it is

Doubt any moves happen.

As much as everyone wants it to happen (don't know why) Stoll is not going anywhere.

Stoll makes way too much money for any team to want. Unless that team gets to unload a bad contract on the Kings (none of us want that) Stoll is staying.

If Scuds isn't signed at the deadline, move him. Just my thought.

Scuds most likely wont go anywhere ether, unless he chooses to head back East (family).

You guys are ready to trade/waive anyone that has a stretch of bad games.

Scuds will be back to the most reliable defender on the ice soon enough.

Every player has stretches of bad games.

Guys like Scuds/Mitchell are not easy to replace, Mitchell is still not replaced in the lineup, nether is Greene.

Yep. Pittsburgh is STILL looking for a replacement for Scuds, and I think VAN def. misses Mitchell, as much as they won't ever admit it

We HAVE the pieces, certainly, but I doubt we move anyone. I think we have positions we could upgrade, but why mess with a championship team just for the sake of messing with it?

I also wouldn't count on DL making moves that would harm the future too much (i.e. Toffoli and a 1st for Iginla or something), as he's a strong believer in being good for a long time.
