Don't believe the Koltsov stuff: http://en.rsport.ru/hockey/20130327/653438084.html

He signed a 2 year extension a week ago.

I would buy out Booth or Ballard and put Pominville on the 2nd line with Kesler. Have Roy on the third. Tomorrow I expect a Lou trade or acquiring Pominville/ some top 6 forward or third line player.

The bad source was more than enough to see through the Koltsov rumor.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Higgins Kesler Pominville
Raymond Roy Hansen

Depends what it would take to get Pominville/any other top six forward available, as Raymond could very well be a part of a package to get one, but say he isn't just for fun and what a top 9 that is.

No reason at all why we couldn't go on a deep SCF run with a forward core like that as well with the mixture of our defense and goalie.

He's much better than Raymond but ....... take away 1st unit PP time, take away Vanek, take away prime offensive end time, take away the offense first system and I don't see him as that big an upgrade on Raymond that I'd want to add a 1st and Gaunce.

got this from the main board

According to Insider Rumors...
"The Sabres have turned down the Habs offer for Pominville. They feel uncomfortable trading within their own division, but source in MTL confirmed to me the Sabres did make a counter offer for Pominville: 1st round pick plus Lars Eller and Nathan Beaulieu. Canadiens not willing to pay this price, but negotiations are ongoing."

hopefully we can fight and get him before Montreal can make a counter offer

not expecting any more moves and will be pleasantly surprised if we pick up another player, as long as we didn't overpay of course

Wow that counter offer is pretty ridiculous IMO. Looks like the asking price will be pretty high. If Gillis pays anything close to that then he really is going "all-in" this year.

That's a pretty big price. Could just be that high because of Montreal being within their division though.

I would absolutely love the Canucks to acquire a centre like Goc. A move like that would give us a solid, defensively reliable third line, and let Kesler slide over beside Roy for the makings of a deadly second line.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Raymond - Roy - Kesler
Hansen - Goc - Higgins
Weise - Lapierre - Kassian
Ebbett

That's a high price. Doesn't mean we would have to match it though...just means that this is the high price they would need to trade Pominville within the division.

Depth D and Goc level centre (3/4C) would be enough for me if that is all we can get cheap. Anything else is probably wishful thinking atm, particularly large structural items like a top 4 PP QB or scoring winger. Those usual need a bit more thinking. Shame Jagr is gone, would have loved to get him.

maybe a top 9 forward would be best.......with Raymond still out for who know how long then someone need to fill his spot and neither Jensen nor sweatt should do that

We DO NOT need to overpay for a forward, let alone Jason Pominville.

Honestly now that we ducked that Clowe bullet I hope we're done. Even later round picks are a waste when it comes to these rental guys. And I don't really see a 'hockey trade' happening - so let's just fold up the tent already. We got Roy for a decent price, and we need young guys to step up for cheap - that's the way of the cap world.

This would be fine and more feasible. Fantasizing about getting guys like Pominville is silly and unrealistic, IMO. You're more than likely sending 1sts and top prospects the other way and limiting your chances of even attempting to sign Roy.
