Boedker + Klesla to the Caps

Mikkel Boedker and Rostislav Klesla represent exactly what the Caps need. Left winger with upside and defensive LD.

I'd say (fellow Caps fans, don't beat me for that), Dmitry Orlov, rugged offensive defenseman, is available. Yesterday, he got sent down to Hershey. I think Nate Schmidt signing made him available.

Would Orlov + 2nd + Connor Carrick do it?

Coyote fans are very high on Boedker. That is not enough, no.

We aren't really in a position to trade Boedker unless we're getting a similar or better offensive player that's already NHL ready.

Nope. Boedker is probably 3rd on the list that's least likely to be traded, behind OEL and Doan. Plus, Orlov is a defenseman, we have an overload. Would have to be over payment if we ever give him up.

Thanks. What about Korpikoski? Is he available? What would Klesla + Korpikoski package fetch?

I'd give you Clutterbuck and Bouchard for that package.

The caps have mojo and hes playing well. I dont see the need just to have new players.

I'm more worried about 2nd line.

Korpikoski is most definitely available. He's been Day-to-day for the last few games but expected back very soon. With that said, it's hard to guage value of them both together in one deal. I'd say they are each worth a 2nd.

the caps arent going to trade orlov, period. they dont trade young defensemen. you are shooting too high.
you are also suggesting the caps are willing to part with orlov in order to take minutes away from brooks laich. that aint gonna happen either.

The Coyotes can't trade Boedker without a huge overpayment, I just bought his jersey.

On first part bolded: Sad but true.

On second part bolded: Not really. They do it to move Laich to a checking line role. Practically same minutes, just different situation. I think it'd improve our team defense.

I say 4th behind Hanzal as well. But your point still stands.

Forsberg and your first.

Well...we told you it would take overpayment. That may not be Boedker is worth, but we don't need to move him, and won't unless a deal blows them away.

That's a bit more than an overpayment...

its not sad. top 4 defensemen are the hardest commodity to get in the nhl. top 4 defensemen on relatively inexpensive pre ufa contracts in a salary cap system are prized possessions.

i would have traded carlson or alzner for pronger at the time. for the flyers pronger made one playoff run and missed the rest with injuries and is now gone. do you honestly think that carlson or alzner is worth that? i dont.

are the caps using a checkng line? caps are using laich on the pp. i would think they intend to use him in offense. they are not paying him as a checker. except possibly at playoff time. even still, i see no sign that oates is a match up coach. he hasnt had a checking line yet

stupid to ask for Boedker. Yotes fans would obviously wanna hoard him.

What about Perreault and a pile of crap (2nds, 3rds, Neuvirth, w/e) for Klesla and Gordon

Yeah, we've had a lot more to show than the Flyers since their playoff run

Klesla, Korpi, and a 5th for Perreault, a 2nd, and Neuvirth?

Works for me. What about replacing the 5th with gordon and the caps add a 3rd.
