Please don't just trade anyone for the sake of trading them.
Also, still not getting the Kippur situation. Why would he want to stay in CGY? So he can get to retire and play golf sooner? Is he gonna eat twinkies in the crease to help the tank??? I just don't get it?
Nonis happy with his goaltending???? Fail.
Kipper doesn't want to have to "move" for a short period, especially since he wants to retire.
But again if teams don't make trades it a pretty lame event and thats the point.
The reason the NFL draft can be turned into an event is because drafting happens every year at the same time of year and all the teams participate. Whereas trades can happen all year long up to the deadline and not all teams participate.
I personally think its silly to try to turn deadline day into more of an event than it already is. Particularly when nothing may actually happen. Do we need more panels like the ones on TSN talking about nothing from 8am on?
There would be no more panels. There would be one panel, just like there is today.
That's a good point- What this tirefire of a team has done (or not done) has taken a back seat to the rumors and potential for change this year. I think you could draw pretty big ratings for a few hours on a Saturday.
The league divides into groups:
1.) Those top level teams not looking to do much. Small group, like Chicago, Anaheim.
2.) Top level teams that are gearing up. Pittsburgh, Boston.
3.) Playoffs teams looking to gear up. LA Kings, Minnesota, etc.
4.) Teams close to the playoffs looking to gear up to get in. Rangers, Columbus, Carolina, etc.
5.) Non-playoff teams looking to sell assets for the future. Buffalo, Calgary, Dallas.
6.) Non-playoff teams that are just staying the rebuilding course, and not looking to do much. Colorado.
It's a pretty exciting time outside Chicago, Anaheim, and Colorado. Fans would watch.
