I would've traded Stafford and picks for Forsberg in a heartbeat; what the hell is Washington thinking?

Is Erat really that much better than Stafford?

Wow Erat for Filip Forsberg.Stafford has as many 20 goal seasons as Erat.I would have gladly gave up Staff and a 2nd for Forsberg.

Erat is NOT that much better offensively then Stafford and is 4 years older and smaller.Stafford has the better career GPG too...

I'm laughing at the Caps...horrendous trade

Top prospect for a 32 year old 55 point player

McPhee is terrible!!

Horrible deal.

And I can't believe they made such a massive fuss about it.

As surprising as that is, FF is still a prospect and maybe Was has doubts if he could be that top 6 scoring forward. I would have still gambled on that, though (acquiring him).

I don't understand how anyone would fire Darcy after watching some of the bonehead moves that teams in our area of the standings made today. Yikes.

I would've sent Stafford + for Forsberg if that was the asking price.

Darcy said they were in discussions about moving a different player to Minnesota with they asked about Pominville last night.

Latta isn't a throwaway prospect. He's very similar to Catanecci but he's NHL ready and better at this point.

Erat is also better than Stafford.

It's still a horrible deal for Washington at the moment.

Current Wiki page on Forsberg:

Filip Forsberg (born August 13, 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is currently a prospect for the Nashville Predators of the NHL. Forsberg was selected by the Washington Capitals in the 1st round (11th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded to the Predators on April 3, 2013. Capitals fans are upset....

Darcy says process of remaking the team will continue in the summer, contingent on interest from other teams, etc.

Darcy basically saying this team needs to tank and get a top 3 pick to win.

Okay, well, he said teams that have been successful have gotten top end talent early in the draft.

Speaking in regards to being able to rebuild quickly in today's NHL since young guys can have an impact right away.

Darcy: Players picked at the top of the draft are extremely valuable, most teams that win the cup have a top pick or two. Have to endure pain to win sometimes you just want to make that period of pain as short as possible.

I agree, Darcy has done well with trades and drafting. If you look at the poorer 1st round picks the Sabres have made (not including Ric Seiling and Darcy was not here for that), look at the next 10-15 picks...do you want any of them? Do you recognize any of them?
