Sylvester on GR-55 just announced that Regier, Black, Pegula, and Devine are all in the same room today.

There is a good chance they are discussing the long term direction of the franchise.

Kinda scary to think about.

Time to **** or get off the pot

I'm trying to understand why this would be surpising to anyone.

I could see Ottawa making an offer for Stafford...he'd be a nice piece going into the playoffs.

Big center, power forward type. Minnesota demanded that he be included in the Burns-to-San Jose trade. The Sharks finally relented.

Not really. They still have about two more hours to sit on the toilet.

It's encouraging if RR is indeed not in the room.. Lindy was always a part of deadline day, no?

I'm loving Darcy keeping his papapa poker face going with Pominville. He's obviously milking it for what it's worth.

FINALLY, someone on NHL network figured out Lou can't be moved. Who wants to take anyone else's albatross for free?????????

Funny how last year, we got a 1st for Gaustad and this year the rumors are teams don't want to give up a 1st for Pominville.

One of two things.....the rumors are completely bogus or this years draft really is stacked.

I don't think you get Coyle out of Minny. More like Zach Phillips ++

These clowns on the NHL network panels have been on since 8 AM. Haha.

In unrelated news, I think if Burkie was still running the Laffs, they'd have got Kippur, and become a threat in the playoffs. Feaster is gonna have to dump him by next deadline for sure. Dumb to hold him, but GM's were probably feigning a Lou move when negotiating.

Not Phillips, please. I'd accept Zucker + 1st. I wouldn't be happy with a deal centered around Phillips.

I'd like Brodin included, but I can't see any deal with Minny considering their cap sit coupled with a playoff run. They're just dreaming.

They said on TSN that Kipper is contemplating retirement.

Brodin is probably the most untouchable player on their roster.

Kipper is reportedly going to retire after the season to avoid playing for the $1.5m of his final contract year

Which, if you believe Mike Keenan who was employed by the Flames at the time, was agreed upon before the contract was signed.

If Pitt is looking for a vet... we should try to convince them to take Hecht for a 6th.

Deadline is on a Friday. No trades wed and Thursday, no games Thur fri sat

Trade market opens up at 12:00 on Friday, closes at midnight.

Make it an event. NHL needs to do things to drum ul interest
I'm not sure if this is the model, but I totally agree this is something the NHL should do. The NFL does it with their draft. They expanded to a TH-F-SAT format to expand the experience for fans. It's not the same Saturday fest, but it is exciting.

The NHL draft is never going to be what the NFL draft is, since the vast majority of the picked players are years from contributing. But the NHL trade deadline is the most exciting in sports. The NHL should take advantage of it.
