Kings/Flyers: Bernier for Couturier

Fills needs for both teams. Bernier is an inexpensive young goalie with tons of potential to be a starter for Philly. I already consider him starter status with his play this year.

Kings can finally complete the Philadelphia Flyers centerman box-set.

I would love that trade. I think its an even trade too. Gives Philly 2 good young goalies Bernier and Mason.

Our Future 3rd line
Couturier- Shore- Vey

Bernier alone does not get you Clouts.

Flyers need to do something after giving away Bobrovsky. Mason is not the solution.

Neither is trading away your best defensive center at age 20.

When has a goalie gotten that much in a trade?

Ben Bishop is a comparable.

Except, Bishop isn't nearly as good as Bernier and doesn't have RFA status like Bernier.

We could be inclined to include a defenseman if need be. Martinez, Muzzin or Ellerby.

Value aside, you say this fills a need for each team, what is that need for LA? A 3rd line C?

They have bigger needs.

Bishop was a great trade for the Sens and a terrible one for the Bolts IMO. Hence, I would not do this proposed trade.

The fact that Couturier is a stud, yet Laviolette doesn't seem to realise. I snap take this deal, who cares about 'needs' with an offer like that

It fills a need for us. Couts can play LW or Richards LW, both could be interchangeable. I don't think the value is too far off, and like Reap said, we could add one of our young D men...

IMO the kings have to many players playing out of the natural postions and this trade would add one more. We have kopitar richards stoll and fraser playing center right now. If someone in thetop 6 gets hurt we have carter to step in. Someone in the bottom 6 gets hurt we have lewis to step in. Should there be more injurys richardson nolon king all natural centers. the last thing this team needs is another center

I really think that with some tweaking, this could be a good deal for both teams.

He was an upcoming RFA before he re-signed with Tampa today.

Cousins maybe. I wouldn't move Coots in any trade involving a goalie though.

Neither would I. But Voynov and Bernier have more value combined than Couturier pretty easily IMO.

Coots is my favorite player and I agree he isn't near that value. I don't know why everyone is putting him in every other trade when he's a 20 year old with a crazy amount of upside.
