Not a bad deal.

Bishop was had for a 2nd so we weren't going to get a high 1st or anything.

I"m pretty pleased.

He has 6 points in his last 16 games.

This is why we were able to get him.

Conacher has touch you can't teach and he's only 23 and under $1 million.

He'll add creativity on the LW which we seriously lack, see him as a 4th liner who can add a spark on the upper lines when needed.

Habs fan coming in peace.

I hate you guys. Murray definitely used some sort of magic there.

Sens are lucky to have Murray as a gm . Guy is shrewed and never panics.

Great trade for both teams. Conacher played well against the Sens, he's the 2nd leading rookie scorer, should do well in Ottawa.

Bishop was our third goalie but played like a #1. He'll for sure help out in Tampa.

Both players can be locked up long term.

Looks like a real hockey trade.

What did you expect for Bishop?

Giroux?

Sure, we'll have to see if he fits in with our group.

At the same time, how will Bishop do on a team without a good defense?

It's a good trade but not a steal. A lot of people seem to be forgetting Conacher is a small player who had the benefit of playing with MSL and Stamkos at the start of the season and he's been struggling the past month. I think the sens win this trade but I see it more as a low risk/high reward type trade, with Anderson coming back within the month I bet, you guys have a great tandem in Lehner/Anderson and Bishop becomes expendable. Good job Murray.

Even 6 in 16 works out to a 30 point season, which is still very good for a rookie. If he's producing at that pace when he's at his worst, then we did very well.

I'm just saying, he could be a 35-point inconsistent small forward who doesn't bring it when it counts. But who knows.

Obviously there is upside though so this could be good for us.

Superb asset management by GMBM and the crew.. turning a 2nd and a bit of development time into a Calder candidate and a 4th rder in a deep draft.

Not as much of a steal as most people are saying. Bishop has the potential to be a good starter in the league.

As mentioned Conacher was playing with good players in TB

I still like the trade though.

Conacher is now our leading scorer

MAK

So what now? What were you saying when bashing Murray for that Bishop trade?

Gave up a 2nd last year, Bishop had a 11-8-2 record, with a ~2.45 GAA and a ~0.918 SV% for the Sens and now we get back :

- a 4th round pick
- Cory Conacher, who is easily worth a 2nd, probably more like a mid 1st

Methot trade, Bishop trade.

0 for 2

What's next?

Serious question : have you ever been happy with a trade?

This is true, he came out of gate quickly and was the talk of the league early, but to give up a player like him who is so young, long term I think Ottawa wins this deal. I like Bishop but I was never convinced he'd become a true everyday #1 goalie
