Ben Bishop to Tampa Bay?

So we know Ottawa is probably trying to move a goalie, and most likely Bishop.

Tampa Bay's goaltending has been pretty weak this season, and are most likely looking for an upgrade.

I read that Tampa had scouts + some exec at the OTT - NYR game tonight, where Bishop played well and posted a goose egg.

Seems like a perfect fit to me.

The rumours I've read indicate Ottawa is asking for a young player/prospect + 2nd round pick for him. I don't know what Murray is looking for, but I'd prefer blueliners, although we could use a scoring forward as well.

What is Brett Connolly's value like these day. Haven't followed him, but I've heard he's been good when healthy, but has had significant injury problems. Could he be in the discussion?

Scanning Tampa's prospect list, I know little about any of them. Can any Lightning fans enlighten me?

No need for Bishop. We have our own version in Lindback.

No way you are getting Connolly for him.

He's worth exactly what Ottawa paid for him last year. Maybe add a mid tier prospect but that's about it.

But yeah I'd be surprised if Bishop was the target. Doesn't make much sense.

Connolly is Tampa's best prospect, aside from goaltender Vasilevsky. Can't see them moving him, he's having a solid season in the AHL. If you're seeking a blueliner, Tampa has quite a few guys that are ready to make the jump, Barberio and Gudas for example. I'd laugh if Yzerman continues to throw assets at young, completely unproven goaltenders though.

TB turned away from Bishop once before, and I see no reason why that stance has changed now.

Not that he's worth Connolly, but he's better than Lindback.

I would see Bishop being traded to New Jersey or at least this would make sense.

Says what? The 20 games they have each played this year? Come on now. Jury is still very out on both of them.

this is from memory, but i thought the story was that tampa offered a 2nd as well and st. louis assumed ottawa's would be higher this year.

Quick look at their histories, and Bishop has posted far more impressive numbers.

To get Connolly I think Ottawa would have to add. How much? Not sure, but it would not be a top prospect, more like a Boroweicki, O'Brien, Gryba type of player.

Nope, Tampa never formally made an offer. Asked a price and nothing more.

That sounds like pretty definitive knowledge. Source?

Another young goalie is the last thing Tampa needs.

If Tampa was gonna trade for a goalie it would be Miller.

I still have a funny feeling he ends up in Edmonton at some point, probably not until the offseason. Edmonton has two 2nd round picks at the upcoming draft, Ottawa gave up a 2nd to get Bishop. Makes sense.

It does make sense. Would also be good to ship him to a team in the West.

People are ridiculous on this board. Yes, it's comparable to you guys asking for a 22 year old Norris winner who has proven a lot in the NHL...let's ignore that Connolly hasn't proven anything and wasn't even that great outside of the NHL. I'm really not interested in him or anyone from Tampa that would be available to be quite honest.

Bishop to Tampa? How does this make sense?

We have a young, big goaltender. Bishop does not improve Tampa.

LOL. Don't kid yourself. Karlsson would be the starting point for Stamkos.

People think that 20 good games make him better. That and the fact that they think we have given up on Lindback.

Fair enough. All we know is that there's been heavy scout traffic between the teams. A lot of Sens fans see Bishop as being the most obvious player available, but I'm sure Murray-Yzerman have other ideas.

Vermette for LeClaire/1st for Rundblad/Rundblad for Turris/Lee for Gilroy

Murray seems to make a lot of 'like for like' trades with younger players. If Yzerman wants to shake up the roster, I'm sure OTT-TBY could work something similar. Now if only it was for Slater Koekkoek!!! (dreaming!)

If something happens, I bet it's small like the Lee deal. Benoit would be a very useable, cheap D.

funny thing is you pretty much got suckered into this argument from a tampa fan who suggested a trade for Connolly would need to start with Karlsson. Maybe that whole point should be dropped before more people look silly.

Bishop is not the answer for Tampa, they have more problems to deal with.
