Definitely Luongo.

I think Luongo will get 4-5 years in FA from a team like Toronto or maybe the Islanders. I don't like that kind of commitment.

Honestly, with how Reimer has been, why do they need Luongo?

If he gets bought-out, he's still going to be getting paid big money from his Vancouver contract. So money may not be as big of hurdle.

After what happened to him this year I'm not so sure he'll sign another long-term deal again either.

I would say realistically the only way he comes here if bought-out is on a short-term deal. I can't see the Flyers committing 4-5 years to a 34 year old goaltender especially after getting done with the whole Bryz situation. I think the highest they would go is 2-3 years and somewhere in the ballpark of $3.5M a year.

I got why they were trying to bring in a veteran goalie who could possibly take over the starting role for the playoffs if needed but at this point there's no need to bring in someone like Luongo for next year. I would try to move Scrivens during the offseason and bring in a veteran back-up.

3 years, $12m for Luongo would be OK with me if they buy out Bryz.

Good luck to him in the KHL. He's had a good NHL career.

Agreed. I think he'll get offers for more/longer than what I'd be comfortable with the Flyers offering. Also Luongo and the media here feels like it could be a real disaster.

I think if he took a short deal he'd like to go to Florida. There was talk he wanted to go back, and if they felt like they didn't want to just throw Markstrom to the wolves they could give Luongo a year or 2.

The goalie you could get on a cheap post-buyout deal is DiPietro. Classic change-of-scenery type guy, except for the fact that he constantly gets hurt.

God no! I'm a little insulted that you even suggested that. We already have a reclaimation project in Steve Mason.

Not only is DiPietro a jack***, he's 31 and his better days are behind him.

They should hire Rick D to be their trainer/training dummy. Practice ways that you could possibly get hurt and use whatever remedy he used, seeing as he's had about every injury in the book.

Slow your role there bud. He hasn't even compeleted his first year of playing high level hockey yet. He'll be here over the Summer for rookie camp. I'm 99% sure he won't stay after that for the big club camp though.

Mmmm, this kid now has Flyer credentials...and his brother used to be a Phantom, IIRC.

http://www.cbc.ca/hamilton/news/stor...-beaulieu.html

Scratched for Habs at Toronto, headed to Strathroy for a party after, then beat the crap out of a couple guys with his dad along side.

Make them an offer, he needs a change of scenery....

Guys have done crazier stuff than that and still remained with a team. He's their top prospect, I'm sure they'll try to make it work out.

Any interest in either Stefan Elliott or Tyson Barrie from Colorado?

With Jones on board, they seem to have an abundance of RH, offensive-minded defenseman.

EDIT: Probably more a move to think about if we end up drafting a forward.

Barrie won't be traded. He was great this year for the Avs

Elliott is more realistic

Avs fans seem to think the opposite is true--that Elliott's chemistry with Siemens and Barrie's higher trade value would make it more likely that the latter is dealt.

Shattenkirk is a far more realistic possibility for an offersheet.

Getzlaf and Perry are each also being paid for years well after their projected prime though, right?

If we get Giroux for anything less than $7 AAV, Holmgren (Snider) will have redeemed himself for the Bryzgalov fiasco.
Since Petro will get matched no matter what out of curiosity what do you see the Flyers offering up for Shatty? Would have to be around 6 per for Blues to possibly walk away and that is overpaying quit a bit.

I think the term for which you are looking is "change-of-machinery". DiPietro needs an everything transplant.

Unless he signed for $500k and agreed to be the emergency call-up guy from ADK I would have no interest in Rick "Touch Me and I Crumble" DiPietro.

Speaking of first-round draft busts. I feel badly for the guy; he gets picked 1st overall, and the Islanders deal Luongo away to make him the outright #1, and then he comes apart like a second-hand Ford.
