I'm seeing it more as two months early. Didn't thought Gaborik would be on the team next season.

Most of the posts on the CBJ board are not happy, think they overpaid.

Gabby's been Drury like in terms of adding anything on the ice for too long. You cut bait now before you get stuck with remainder of contract. This team thinks they can win in the next few years and draft picks ain't helping that happen. I personally was tired of watching him struggle and now am excited to see the how we move forward with new guys.

What a crap return. Wow. Slats must still be taking pain meds from his surgery. How disappointing.

It honestly flew right over my head that Nash must have decent chemistry with these guys

that being said, my first thought was "at least Gabby will be with Dubi and Ani.

My mind works in mysterious ways

Fans are going to love Dorsett.

Brassard is at a major crossroad in his career, personally I don't think he'll ever be an elite scorer, but he is serviceable.

Moore is interesting to me. There's no reason, with this teams makeup on the blueline, that he can't develop into a solid two-way NHL defenseman.

Make no mistake, this team did not rebuild with this trade. They simply got what they could for a player who may be starting his career decline.

I think it's fair to say, this team is not a championship contender this season. They just don't stack up with the elite teams.
Thank you for not looking through the rose colored glasses or being overly pessimistic. A truly unbiased way of looking at things. Welcome back to the madhouse

He wasn't going to do that for the Rangers, since, I think, in all probability he was not going to be a Ranger past this off-season, due to cap concerns. The question becomes, would the Rangers have gotten a better deal in the off-season, as opposed to today? Howson played that game, and found out he couldn't get one for Nash,

I like the move. We add that much needed heart and fight, some scoring ability, room for future improvement in the players, and, more importantly, cap space. I honestly think Gabs is starting to decline this season, likely due to the shoulder injury that made him tentative.

I honestly feel Brassard can establish himself as a 2c, but we'll see how it all turns out I guess.

i like the trade.. dorsett and bassard are great additions, you guys can now shutup about not having a solid 3c.. and prust has been replaced with dorsett... Moore is the real wild card of the trade.. guy is highly talented.. Gab hasnt done much this year and its not like we'll miss his goals, bc the guys hasnt done much this season.. real kicker will be next year.. However if you look at the trades we made, these players will fit more into our system.. only thing to be pissed off about is we didnt get a 1st back, let alone even a 2nd..

but lets watch before we just raise hell.. people on here thought we were going to get mike richards, Kesler kassian, yandle etc.. maybe we over valued gabs, but i think we got solid pieces and we arent a soft team anymore thats for sure!!

cool thing is we brought in great leaders and previous captains which you can't get enough... of heart sole grit and offense sprinkled in.. thats called depth!!

Bad deal...and one that was only made because Torts had no use for Gaborik...you sell high and buy low, not the other way around.

The only way this deal can be considered good is if the Rangers make the Finals.

I find it hilarious that people are glad we got a #3C in Brassard. He's only a #3 because he hasn't been able to establish himself as a #1 or #2.

Moore: Never been a fan and don't expect much.

Dorsett: The fans will love him because of his grit but that doesn't mean he makes this a good trade.

Basically the Rangers have spent this trade deadline trying to replace pieces they let go or traded away over the summer.

Tough trade for everyone, been giving it some time to sink in before posting, but, you have to take $$ into consideration as well when you look at the return for Gabby... I don't see us being any worse off offensively after the trade. My first reaction was one of sadness (for lack of a better word), then I was a tad angry, then I sat back and took it in. I think this team is actually going to be tougher to play against, I also think the lines we now have are going to be able to generate more scoring chances.

It's also a bonus having Rangers A/B teams to root for

Don't have to be psychic to see that the odds of him coming back were slim to none.

He and the coach aren't on th same page, he's not producing for the second time in three years, he's getting paid a lot of money and the salary cap is going down.

Frankly, I think there is far less evidence that something suddenly clicks, has a monster year and then graciously signs for a lower contract and a reasonable amount of years next year at the age of 32.

When the player scored 40 goals in the same system, and is now struggling, it tells me more about the player.

Great trade. Haters don't appreciate the skill and depth we got back. If Gaborik had a bad playoffs, he'd be worth a lot less. It's a good trade for both teams.

well the difference with the Nash deal vs the Gaborik deal is that Nash is signed long term

CLB gets Gabby for one full yr and the rest of this yr

We are all going to miss Gabby but Jackets fans loved Dorsett, they know Moore is a good young Dman and while Brassard didnt do as good as most would like, he is talented

Look at this team last year going into the playoffs and look at it this year. It's amazing how this goofball has destructed a winning team in under 12 months, half of which he wasn't even allowed to do anything during the lockout.

Columbus won't have any issue getting Gaborik re-signed. We'll be seeing a lot of him in future.

The problem is also that a. This is his second "off" year in the past three years, which means its not a fluke or a "system" problem and b. this guy who has a lot of injury reports in his file, which was pretty big to begin with.

At 31 years of age, with one year left on a contract, a shrinking salary cap, and several younger guys we have to sign, I don't think this was going to be a long term marriage even if Gaborik was producing. The fact that he isn't, again, just made the divorce happen a little sooner.

We traded Marian Gaborik to become last years Rangers. Except this time Brad Richards sucks.
