I just checked out the goals per 60 minutes of 5 on 5 stat, and my head exploded. Arty is tied with Nash for 6th in the league, ahead of such luminaries as Crosby, Stamkos, and Tavares.

Not so fast...

We may be making a moot point here though, because unless the team seeks to trade him, it won't really matter. He's only signed through next year.
the devil is in the details. I assume Visnovsky's waiver was not specific enough about which transfer it was for, so it could be applied to all following trades as well.
It's mildly entertaining that after all that drama with Visnovsky, he's happy on Long Island, plays awesome and signed a 2 year extension with the Islanders.

I still can't believe that at the end of a 109 point season, the New York Rangers took a look at the 65 point scoring Columbus Blue Jackets and said to themselves "You know what we need?? To be more like them."

And then they continued that trend with this trade.

Not gonna complain about that one bit...

You know who I think the Rangers could use....RJ Umberger. Come on Jarmo, call our old friend Slats and tell him you've got a deal for him. It will only cost them Chris Krieder. HAHA.

Schadenfreude would be seeing the Rangers with a top six line of Umberger-Brassard-Nash.

Ranger fan here. I've been watching the pieces of the game since the CBJ acquired Gaborik. He's back to scoring goals. What is the general consensus amongst CBJ fans right now? Happy with him?

I'm glad to see him back to doing what he does best, score goals. I think he's a piece that will push you into the post season.

It's nice to have another guy who can finish when the worker bees get him the puck. (The other would be Anisimov.) He's also an effective decoy who can make the sweet pass for an assist.

I have no issue with how he is playing. He is exactly what I thought he was/would be. As long as we understand that he'll go through hot and cold stretches and we don't expect him to the be the savior while letting him play his game, he should work out just fine and enjoy his time around here.

With fans it is hard to keep expectations in check, but luckily the players are more insulated from fan ire than NY.

I'm glad to see Gaborik fitting in. Over time, you guys will learn to love him. He may not always be the most noticeable guy on the ice, but when he finds open room or can get his shot off, he's one of the best finishers in the NHL and a real game breaker.

I still feel that trade was a steal for your fan base as I've been completely underwhelmed by Brassard being a centerpiece in that trade. Gabs is legitimately a top-5 goal scorer in the NHL when he can play his game.

His defense in OT was a little lacking, but BOB saved his bacon. . . Still, glad to have Gaborik nonetheless.

In time, I believe John Moore will have become the most valuable piece in the trade for the Rangers.

Rangers fan here. I'm really loving the playoff push you guys are making and I'm really glad our ex-guys are working out for you. Last night's game against the Avs had me cheering for you guys. While I won't be so dramatic as to say we got fleeced in the two trades, I think you guys definitely won both of them and have definitely tarnished Sather's reputation as "Trade Master Extrodinaire". Please no more trades though, or next thing I know, Slats will be giving you McDonagh for Umberger and a 4th. Good luck against Anaheim! They're a great team, but you guys are finding all sorts of ways to win and I think you can beat them!

I think a lot of people here are skeptical about writing this trade as either a win or a lose. Gabby was nice off the gate, but last night he floated really hard and almost cost the team two points. If we see too much of that and he ends up walking at the end of next season then the trade could be seen as a Sather© fleecing.

As I said, we either accept him for the player he is or we try and make him a player he isn't and drive ourselves and him crazy.

I vote for the former. He's over 30, he is what he is. Which is, for the most part, an elite player.

Yeah, he'll do that. But I disagree with some Ranger fans who say his speed and shot have deteriorated.

Knew what they were getting when they traded for him and decided the pluses outweighed the minuses and he was worth the acquisition costs.

Not much else can be said.

I vote for the former, but you know the latter is going to be predominant among folks here.

They just can't help themselves. They want a Lord And Savior(tm), no matter how bat**** insane the concept is in a heavily team-focused game like hockey.

I completely agree with this. Brassard will be the least remembered NHL piece of this deal, IMO. Dorsett will be very popular, I think, doing his thing, but the real gem of the trade is Moore. I believe that kid will be a star someday.

He actually caused a turnover that led to the Tyutin OT game winner in Anaheim.

Brassard has been very good for the Rangers. Good on the PP, good at 5 on 5 as well. He has been creating chances with his speed and his hockey IQ has been a welcome addition to the top-9. He has been hovering between the 2c and 3c role. He seems to have chemistry with most o the guys already as well.

Moore has been an absolute revelation IMO. He won a fight last night and hes been looking more and more comfortable on the back-end playing with Eminger. His physical play has picked up significantly and with that, he has become more engaged all-around including jumping into the play quite a bit.

As crazy as it sounds, I actually believe Moore is a better skater than McDonagh who was the best Ranger d-man, skating wise, I have seen since Leetch.
