LEAKED: Transcript of Conversation Between Holland & Feaster

Riiiiinggggg.....Riiiiinggggg

JF: Feaster here
KH: Hiya Jay, it's Kenny Holland in Detroit. How ya doing? How's Jiri Hudler working out for ya?
JF: Great. Jiri's great. I thought he was a 6'2 center and was surprised to find out he was a 5'8 winger. But, still, he's managed. What can I do for you Kenny.
KH: Say, Jay, word is you're shopping Jay Bouwmeester. We've always liked Bouwmeester here in Detroit. He's big. He can skate. He can play the PK or the power play. If you're moving him, we're definitely interested.
JF: Well, I'm glad to see you value Jay Bouwmeester. A lot of the guys are calling up here today and acting like they're doing us a favor by even asking for him. So what are you offering Kenny?
KH: Well, Jay, why don't you tell me what you're looking for.
JF: Sure, sure. Why beat around the bush. Kenny, Kiprusoff has been a great goalie for us. But I think he's done. I doubt you'd move Jimmy Howard and ...
KH: Yeah. No. We wouldn't move Jimmy.
JF: Right, right. I was thinking about that kid Mrazek. He looked like something else in the World Juniors. Something around Mrazek might work.
KH: Yeah. No. I don't think we're going to move Mrazek. He's a real important piece of the future for us going forward, Jay.
JF: Well, we could really use a young defensemen. We like Brendan Smith a lot. Something around Smith would work well for us.
KH: Yeah. No. Smith's a part of the Red Wings foundation.
JF: How about something around Ryan Sproul. Kid has a howitzer doesn't he, Kenny? My scouts love him. He's got some questions around his defense, but I still love him.
KH. Well, the problem here, Jay, is that we can't move any prospects.
JF: No prospects?
KH: You know, with the salary cap, you can't afford to trade away prospects anymore. Gotta be thinking about the future, right Jay?
JF: Sure. Yeah. Well, that makes things a little tougher here, Kenny. But we can probably build something around your first round pick if you ...
KH: Yeah, Jay, I can't trade my first round pick. I did that last year, Jay, for Kyle Quincey. Come to find out I already had Quincey in Detroit and I lost him on waivers when I wasn't looking. Anyway, it turns out Quincey isn't very good, Jay. I don't want to give away my first this year.
JF: Well, Kenny, this doesn't give us much room to deal here, you know?
KH: Jay, just tell me what you want. We can make this work. I know we can.
JF: Look,Kenny. I'll be honest. Bouwmeester isn't that good. And his contract is brutal. I need out from under it. What about Ian White?
KH; Jay...
JF: He's a free agent and you're benching him anyway If you put together with a Patrick Eaves ...
KH: No, Jay ...
JF: ...and a second rounder I think I could spin this...
KH: I'm going to stop you right there. We need our depth, Jay. One thing I've learned over the years is that you win with depth. I'm not moving any roster players.
JF: Well...
KH: Jay, let's make a deal that helps both teams here. Maybe if you ate some salary...
JF: If I ate salary you'd trade a prospect?
KH: No, Jay.
JF: Your first rounder?
KH: Jay, I already told you I won't be moving my first round pick.
JF: Ian White?
KH: Jay, didn't we just go over this. Come on Jay, let's work on a deal here.
JF: Kenny, I've got the Blues on the other line. I think I better take this call.
KH; I understand Jay. But give me the chance to match their offer, would ya?
JF: Sure thing, Kenny. Sure thing.

But seriously.. how does Holland expect to land Bouwmeester without dealing a first, a prospect, or roster players?

Guys,
If you want all your blog posts to talk about the rainbows and lollipops in the Red Wings' My Little Pony Universe, you can find Malik at Kuklas.

Free country. And my post represents the frustration of a lot of Red Wings fans today.

If you can't deal with people mocking your Valenti-esque drivel, then don't post it.

After all...free country

CB or Malik? Is that what it's come to? Only those two choices? I know politics are taboo, but, man, it's like thinking all that exists is the Democratic party and the Republican party.

That's fine. But don't treat us, potential readers, like idiots who want ponies.

Your content can be vinegar, but try some honey with the folks you want to drive traffic.

I'm not too concerned with traffic, Benchy. I'm building some websites and testing themes, I had database space left over so I started this for fun.

I didn't think this post was too insulting to anyone. It just made Holland sound rather aloof and obtuse.

I do aim to be brash and a bit of a provacateur.

And my goal is to infuse the overall Red Wings conversation with some tough criticism. I've done that at HFboards, to a certain extent. And I plan to do that using the blog and twitter, as time permits.

I don't know about you, but as a fan who wants to see this franchise MOVING in a positive direction, I get sick and tired of the Red Wings media and hockey media immediately making excuses for the Red WIngs brass.

It's like how nobody in the Detroit media covered the mindboggling Abdelkader-Datsyuk line. Didn't even mention it.

CBC mentioned that people in Detroit questioned it. But the Red Wings writers didn't.

And then as soon as Abdelkader scored the hat trick, the Detroit media wrote about how smart Babcock was to put them together.

My goal is help instigate some tougher stories out of the Red Wings beat writers. They should be ASKING the Red Wings the tough questions.

Not defending the Red Wings from the tough questions.

So I am to try to move that needle to the middle a bit

Buy a domain. I've got room for another DB on my server

I'll never compete with Malik. Dude apparently doesn't have to work for money.

Maybe he didn't get that "slide the pick to 2014" -idea.

Haha.
I hate Valenti and yearn for the days of Stoney and Wojo having Chelios, Bowman and Kevin Allen on all the time.

I even miss Art Regner.

If I couldn't handle criticism, I wouldn't post.

It's all good, bro

I kinda had the sense that Malik, in terms of followership, had fallen off a bit. No? Is he still popular? I haven't gone to his site in ages.

If I had to guess, he's probably the most popular Wings blogger. And probably one of the more influential people in the Wings web universe.

Gotta credit him because he's a work horse. But I think he could save himself a lot of time by not regurgitating the same stories 5 times... like this:

Henrik Zetterberg wasn't happy with the late goal given up by the Wings.
Here's what MLIVE SAID;
Quote:
Zetterberg wasn't happy with the late goal
"I think we need to play tougher in our own end late in the game and avoid mistakes," Zetterberg said.
Here's what Helene St James wrote
Quote:
Zetterberg displeased by giving up the late goal
"I think we need to play tougher in our own end late in the game and avoid mistakes," Zetterberg said. "Those are the things we can't do an expect to win."
Detroit News reported it a little differently:
Quote:
Zetterberg said careless mistakes need to be eliminated
"I think we need to play tougher in our own end late in the game and avoid mistakes," Zetterberg said.
WXYT interviewed Zetterberg about the late goal
(Video of Zetterberg saying he's not happy about the late goal)

Bob, my issue personally isn't with the fact that you are criticizing Holland. It's basically you wrote an article regurgitating the same types of jokes that have been rife on these boards for the past couple years, and have been especially used the past couple weeks.

It's just stale to me, especially when you normally fill your negative opinions on the team with actual points and content.

Eh, it's not an award winner. Fair enough. I tossed it off in 10 minutes.

It sounds funnier if you imagine Holland with a bit of a Yooper accent.

Can you show us the source where it says nothing was in play from DRW?

I mean I would imagine prospects and picks were offered around but the selling teams simply chose to go somewhere else. Just because, you know, they have free will and all. And there are 30 teams.

Or are we the main characters in this story, and everything we want, we are supposed to get?
