Is Ted Lindsay the only player to lead the NHL in goals, assists, points and PIM?

Not all in the same season, but even just once? By my count I think he is. Lindsay led the NHL in goals in 1948. Then points in 1950. He led the NHL in assists in 1950 and 1957 and then led in penalty minutes in 1959.

We can start with recent Art Ross winners. Neither of the Sedins or Malkin or Ovechkin have turned this trick. Crosby or Thornton haven't. Gretzky, Lemieux, Jagr never have. Lafleur and Orr and Esposito didn't. Hull didn't. You would think Stan Mikita would be the closest but no. Howe or Beliveau never did it.

Even in the earlier days I couldn't find anyone. Maybe someone can correct me here, but is Lindsay the only one?

Lindsay is the only player to accomplish that.

The next closest is Nels Stewart (led the league in goals in 1926 and 1937; led the league in points in 1926; led the league in PIM in 1927). He was 5 assists short of tying for the lead in 1926 (keep in mind this was an era with a scarcity of assists).

Cy Denneny was also close.

1917/18 led the league in assists, and again in 1925/26

1923/24 led in goals and points

Came in 3rd in PIM in 1917/18

I don't think they recorded assists in 1917.

Stan Mikita came very close:

1st in points 4 times
1st in assists 3 times
2nd in goals 3 goals
3rd in PIM once

Maurice Richard led in PIM once, goals several times, finished 2nd in points five times, but never came close to leading in assists.

Wow, what an accomplishment. The NHL should name a trophy after this, but they have already used Lindsay's name. Since the Gordie Howe hat trick is somewhat of a myth, how about renaming it the Lindsay-Shanahan hat trick?

1917/18 NHL season assist leaders:

Cy Denneny, Reg Noble and Harry Cameron tied with 10 each according to Hockey Reference.

Did you think I made that one up?

It couldn't happen anymore. There's a huge divide now between players who get points and players who get PIMs.

Hmmm I was looking at hockeydb and it shows 0 assists for everyone in that era. I dunno

hockey reference is better than hockeydb for stats except that one can link on NHL stats to find how any player did on their non NHL teams which is the only advantage I find at hockeydb.

What are you talking about bringing Shanahan into this equation? He just lost me some ATD fame that unskating, unpeaking, unassisting and non-franchise player compiler.
