I fully expect 4.5m a season, for 5-6 years. It's not really what he's worth, but probably what he'll get (so I guess that's what he's worth...).
Problem with Clowe is mental. He will get into these periods of getting so worked up into his head about not scoring that he won't score. Went 45 games one season, now again (though this time injury played a big part). He's just streaky as hell basically.

I was pretty hammered when I read this so if I got it completely wrong I apologize. I am pretty sure I remember reading that SJS management essentially gave Clowe his pick of where he wanted to go. Now I am not sure why he would pick a borderline playoff team unless he intended on resigning there...
Also, there is no way Clowe gets more than Callahan. Maybe equal amounts but no way he gets more.

If he reaches free agency, he'll get $5-6 million from someone.
This is exactly what I think he's worth. With the Shark's cap situation it would have been hard to go over 4 mil. 4.5 would have been more like it and still a 'discount' in this market.
If Rangers can lock him up for under 5 mil @ 3-5years they should be really happy.
There must have been something going on behind the scenes the last few months, I am glad he got a change of scenery.
2nd, conditional 2nd and Torres for Clowe is pretty damn good value as well.
