Brodin and Scandella both ill, similar gland swelling to Ballard and Folin earlier this year; Ballard had the mumps #mnwild
Apparently, linesman Steve Miller was also affected by it in our game against the Devils.

Hopefully we'll still be able to beat Buffalo without 2 of our top 4 d-men with Spurgeon coming back.. He'll have some rust to shake off.

Wouldn't mind seeing this at the end of the night..

Incubation time for mumps is regularly around 2-3 weeks, but I'm not sure if it holds true here as this seems to be a mutation (I don't see how this many players would get it if it was a normal strain of the virus), so we could still be in for more cases on the team. Hopefully at least some of them will turn out to be mild (in which case you might not even suspect it's mumps in the first place).

If it was totally harmless, they wouldn't have been vaccinating people for it for a long time. Most of the time it's just a nasty and painful illness that you recover from in a week or 2, but sometimes you end up with possibly life-threatening complications:

Quote:
In around 15% of cases, mumps can affect the nervous system, causing viral meningitis, headache, sensitivity to bright lights and a stiff neck. Between one-quarter and one-half of men who get mumps after puberty will suffer inflammation of the testes. However, the virus rarely causes sterility. Deafness can be one of the more serious complications of mumps. Other rare complications can include encephalitis, abdominal pain due to pancreatitis, and inflammation of the ovaries. Women who catch mumps in weeks 0–13 of pregnancy increase their risk of miscarriage.

I gathered that, but a broader explanation would be nice.

The Blues got sick first (likely in LA), then passed it to the Ducks (Perry/Beauchemin), who then passed it onto us (Brodin/Scandy/Ballard). Then we passed it to Steve Miller (linesman who fell symptomatic and couldn't do our game against the Devils). Hopefully none of the Devils and I really, especially hope the Sabres don't get it tonight.

Corey Perry sprayed mumps in everyone's gloves when they weren't looking. Then he called a random phone number and told whoever answered that someone they knew had just died, and for this he was rewarded with a game-winning goal. It's a slight twist on a Patrick Kane hat trick.

Maybe it'll be easier for us to score now since the defenders won't want to go near our guys. Maybe this is part of Yeo's plan....we just had to sacrifice a few players.
