well the Devils did take losing Parise in the rear and had all the fuel added to the fire when he went home ..... THAT said, yeah, Devil fans are annoying.... almost as bad as those cry babies in western Canada eh

Buffalo fans have been very cool but they didn't have any reason to be upset. They are rebuilding and got a nice care package for a situation they wanted.

Though Pom is the man, we got screwed. Two great prospects, a first and a second? If Pom was 25-28 maybe.

I think differently.

One promising prospect but could end up being a great 2nd line C or a dece 3rd line C over time,.... who knows. hackett sucks and is overrated.

losing the 1st hurts, 2nd, not so bad.

I think it was a fair deal but yes, costly. Getting Poms and Vanek isn't a bad return

Hacket was no longer a "great" prospect, as a matter of fact his standing with the team was in serious question beyond this season, he likely was gone anyways and it would have been for no return.

The one thing I have learned in my 40 years of watching hockey is you just never know.

What I do know is that when you put a talented team together, like the Wild have, and the playoffs start, you don't want to be in the second or third round and wishing you could have added a stud at the deadline but you didn't. Sometimes even the most talented teams fall on hard luck. When you have a chance at winning the Cup, which I believe you guys do, you go for it.

Sure, I really like the package we got back for Pommer but if you think for a second I wouldn't want the Sabres to have been buyers and in your position, well.......like I said, 40 years of watching them and still no Cup.

Take the shot while you have it. There should be no regrets in the Wild fandom over this trade.

Getting Vanek?

Pretty big leap.

I'm not upset about losing Hacket. I don't like that we gave up a first. I think we really need to keep building up our prospects pool. If our 1st line starts to decline at the same time, who do we have to replace them?

Keep in mind, even with the trading of the prospects... we're still right up against the contract limit. We have prospects who need signing as well. You can't keep all picks and prospects. We were going to lose some to the contract wall unless we traded some away.

we have awhile to worry about that I think...

also we can always trade someone and MN is making themselves look like a nice place for FA's to go.

I'm not worried.

To think that if Fletcher did nothing, everyone would be b***hing up a storm. We have a 5 year window folks.... Think where we were last year to 3+years ago. Be happy!

BTW I like this revisionist history of Hackett coming out. No longer a great prospect. He was still a damn good prospect. Goaltenders just take a while to develop.

I don't think he meant that as a quality player his value dropped... just that at goaltender, he ran out of space and was being passed up thus his future was no longer here.

When Kuemper passed him up in Houston, it was the beginning of the end for Hacks in the Wild organization is all.

I think his value is still there. Kuemper and Gustafsson have a long ways to go before becoming starters. Kuemper kind of scares me a bit because of the lack of games. Gusty is more known.

One of the advantages of having a prospect pool is you get to trade those prospects to fill position of need with someone of JPs skill level.

The Wild can get back a 1st if they fill the need to do so.

His value was realized, it was part of getting us Pominville.

Hackett has always been my #3 fav goalie.. that's just my opinion and I know little to nothing about developing goalies..

clearly Fletcher thought he was expendable. and I am okay with that.

Gave up too much. Future NHL starter. Solid 3rd line player. First and Second for a year and change rental. Better get him signed or win a cup or that was a whole lot of nothing.

I was perfectly fine with just getting Larsson/Hackett then the picks were announced and I was . Highway robbery by Regier.

That said, You guys are going to love Poms game. Hopefully he goes on a tear and soothes some of your nerves over the trade. Heres to hoping the Wild make the Playoffs and Buffalo finishes The Tank strong

Right, but Harding isn't likely to retire... in fact, he's more likely to get a start again this season before the playoffs IMO. He's practicing with the team for a reason.

The team is likely to try to bring back Backstrom at least for another year.... thus Kuemper is still going to be in Houston. Gustafsson is coming to NA next year and will be with the Aeros... meaning Hackett had no room on either roster. The Wild either needed to move the value into another player or lose the player.

Pommer is not a rental. He will be re-signed.
