From the AHL's FAQ page (http://theahl.com/faq-p137653)

Quote:
What is the AHL's development rule?

In the AHL, player development is a top priority. The American Hockey League and the Professional Hockey Players' Association have the following development rule in place for the 2012-13 season:

Of the 18 skaters (not counting two goaltenders) that teams may dress for a regular-season game, at least 13 must be qualified as "development players." Of those 13, 12 must have played in 260 or fewer professional games (including AHL, NHL, IHL and European elite leagues), and one must have played in 320 or fewer professional games. All calculations for development status are based on regular-season totals as of the start of the season.
Unless there's a planned change no one knows about the rule will be the same for the 2013-14 season.

Respectfully, no I wouldn't say that. He regressed last season in Worcester. Wasn't very visible on ice or on the scoresheet. I can say like Moore and MacIntyre, at the time theirs contract were signed, that they at had better chances to play in SJ at that time than they did the 2nd year of their contract.

As 210 said there is commuter rail, but there is also bus (Peter Pan Buslines I believe).
Contact me for some tix I can probably help (1st game will be on me). If you get tix on your own, Never go through ticketmaster - call the Sharks office directly 508-929-0500. Theyll porbably have some 6 or 10 packs you can get. Also if you're going to see them play the Providence Bruins, get your tickets early as those games fill up the arena. The others - not so much.

Wow, my memory isn't so good...regardless, I don't see Worcester adding much more to their roster.

To be fair, McCarthy signed his current contract after 3 good years in the AHL (though one season was only 25 games) - I don't think anyone saw him regressing as bad as he did this past season.

Emanuelsson will be staying in SEL for one more season. http://norran.se/2013/07/skellefteaa...r-kvar-ett-ar/
Quote:
Skellefteć AIK forward Petter Emanuelsson signed a contract earlier this summer with the San Jose Sharks. He then went on a development camp with the club where he impressed. Since then has been unclear whether Emanuelsson would go over right away or not. But now it is clear that he'll be on loan to Skellefteć AIK in the coming season.
- It is true. It has been decided. Everyone involved thinks it is the best solution for all parties. We think he'll do very well with another year in the SHL and Skellefteć. We have had a good dialogue with Skelleftea and his agent during the whole time and come to the conclusion that he should have another solid season in SHL, said San Jose's Swedish scout Shin Larsson.
But next year the idea is that Emanuelsson will go over.
- The coaches and everyone around the camp was very pleased with Petter and he will fit in very nicely with us. Now he will have one year to improve what can be improved and the next year he will play for us.
Above all it is the attitude that the NHL club impressed by.
- It's a wonderful guy. He competes all the time and would really need to share that attitude with more players in the SHL.

A few SJS prospects (Ausmus, O'Regan, Brodzinski) have been invited to the US WJC camp, they've split the camp into two rosters:

Also:
Chris Peters @chrismpeters
Also, for those of you wondering, @FASTHOCKEY will stream all games at the U.S. WJC camp, which includes Canada, Sweden & Finland, too.

Do you guys expect Mueller to be playing in Everett or Worcester this season?

Mueller can't play in the AHL this year or next so it's either the CHL or NHL.

What is the reason for that? The way the contracts are structured? Age restrictions?

If you're in the CHL, you can't play in the AHL until you're 20.

It's an agreement between the CHL and NHL, a player has to be 20 years of age by December 31st of the season (or completed 4 years of Junior eligibility) before they're allowed to play in the AHL.

It's a rule that I understand from the CHL's side, but it really needs to be changed in my opinion.

The agreement is if a player is drafted out of the CHL he can't play in the AHL until age 20...if the player is drafted out of any other league he can play in the AHL at age 18.

And as we all know, once a player's CHL season is over he can then play in the AHL for the remainder of that season.

Ah, missed the caveat about drafted out of. I thought Europeans were okay no matter what. I guess the fact we didn't draft any for a while was the cause of that.

I cannot wait to see Brodzinski. I just bought some credits to watch those first two games. Can't believe I'm so psyched to see an American exhibition game haha.

Pretty good write up!

I'm really hoping that Tierney will be able to earn a spot in the top 6 this season but the Knights' depth is ridiculous. I do think he has a decent shot at centering the 2nd line as it sounds like Hunter wants to have Domi and Horvat (with McCarron - scary line!) play on the same line but he's going to have competition.

I think if he was used on a scoring line his numbers would increase quite a bit, but, if Hunter continues to use him in a checking role I agree that he'll probably top out at around a PPG.

Tierney with Rusanowsky @ Development Camp. Sounds really mature.
