I think you're going to hear a lot about the Arnott trade.

Yeah, the Kings are overpaying. Weren't the Stars trying to give Arnott away for not living up to his price tag? Either way I doubt they are looking to re-sign him. Odds are he'll be UFA with the new CBA anyway. The age isn't going to stay at 31 and he's 30.

It's kind of hard to gauge his value....

I think it's pretty good right now. Dallas were dissappointed in his play at first but I think he picked it up a bit. I think he's important to the team right now as they don't really have anyone in the pipeline to step in to the #2 centre job. I think with Guerin, Modano and Zubov (if the latter 2 are re-signed) on board Dallas are still a year or two away from dumping what they've got and re-building the team with youngsters.

On the other two trades:

I don't think Montreal trades Bulis at this point. His production in Europe this year was great IMO they'll be patient. TO might bit on the other trade, but Miller is expensive. It depends in the salary cap. With UFAs etc I guess that would make:

McCabe-Pilar
Kaberle-Klee
Coliacovo-Miller

It also depends if LA want/need a Tucker type player. Isn't Avery in the same mold?

I'm not that interested in Tucker. He could help, but we already have an abundance of 3rd/4th line grinders and pests.

Miller has very little trade value. He has a high price tag, is injury prone, and he played like garbage when he finally did come back.

Belanger has a bit of value; he's an awesome third liner/defense and face-off specialist who makes less than $1 million. Still, I don't think he's worth that much.

I'd hate to give up the 2nd pick for Arnott in this deep draft, but he would be a great 2nd line center for the Kings.

Pfft. I just pulled that trade off in the 05 draft thread. However, it was a 2nd and a 4th instead.

The Jason Arnott offer is pathetic.. The fact that he's nearing UFA status does not make him available, the Stars biggest need is what Arnott is all about, a strong, in his prime center with size.. Jason is an UFA the season Turgeon's contract runs out and the year Mike Modano turns 36. Jason Arnott is arguably the Stars biggest priority to lock up long term at the moment. Trading him for meaningless, mid range picks is horrible.

so going by the argument that the ufa age is gonna be lowered, every team with a 29/30 yr old should dump them on the cheap?

I'd rather take my chances on re-signing my key ufa, then deal him cheaply.

and won't the Stars get a conditional 2nd if another teams signs Arnott?

How much does Miller make, and what is his health status?

And the only reason I did that was because I managed to get Zagrapan in the draft. Had he not fallen to me, I never would have made that deal.

Right now I don't think LA would trade Miller because he and Norstrom are going to be instrumental in bringing in Gleason and Grebeshkov in the next two years. At that point, I wouldn't be suprised to see both Miller AND Norstrom go, but for right now they need both those guys around for mentoring.

LA has no need for a Tucker type of player when Avery is around and in a worse case scenario, Kanko can be called up and play the role of a pest.

I don't think Arnott is the type of player that LA needs at the moment. Armstrong, Cammalleri, or Lehoux could fill the role of a second line center on this team. Arnott coming in does not make LA a legitmate contender. They need to let Cammalleri take the reins or even Lehoux for that matter. They have now had success in the AHL, let's see what they can do in the N.

I don't think Montreal will trade Bulis after the season he just had in Europe. Bouillion also had a very good season in Sewden and they will both stay in Montreal unless the trade offer is of the charts.

So what? You're saying Conroy is a better first line center

I'd agree with all the other Kings fans that as long as Avery's in LA, they don't need someone like Tucker. That being said, I could also see Avery's act (is he still seeing Rachel Hunter?) running real thin with management pretty quickly. LA let Laperriere go so I think if they wanted a 2nd pest type to go with Avery, they might tried to lock Laperriere up before he hit the UFA market last summer.

As much as it would be nice to move Miller's contract, right now I don't think they could give him away until he can play and prove he's over his injuries.

Sure Tucker is considered a pest, but he could definately fill in on our 2nd line if the need arose. Even though I am a big fan and supporter of Avery, Tucker is far more of a complete player than Avery.

Assuming Luc retires, he could step in and play on the 2nd line.

What about Cammalleri? After his season in the AHL they've got to give him an NHL shot.

Looking at the stats I will agree that Tucker is a much more complete player than Avery but I think if you have those two on the same team its a powder keg waiting to explode. Also you better have good special teams because Avery and Tucker will draw some power plays but I think they'd put the Kings short handed a lot more. Guys around the league know they can punch, slash, trip Avery behind the play and wont be called but if Avery lifts a finger he's off to the box. I think that there are going to be better players available that LA could get to play on the 2nd line in the free agency market once the CBA situation is settled.

Of course Cammy will be in there, but where? As a center? A RW? And yeah I dont really see us getting Tucker, I just like him as a player. Even if you plugged the kids that deserve it in there, it's still a shaky lineup that finishes out of the playoffs again at best.

I agree with us holding on to Bulis.. but I don't think Bouillon is a big priority for the Habs. He could go for the right offer... or even a bit less IMO.

That being said, this offer is tempting, getting Miller in return, but I'm not sure about his contract status and seeing Bulis leave and breakout would make me cry....so I'll say no for now.

From a Kings standpoint, no no and no. Both of our teams are rebuilding, no sense in swapping prospects.
