Perhaps. I'm leaning toward the belief that things have gotten stale here. Changes are needed. That's not a knock against Holland and Babcock -- the team just needs change in my opinion.

Well so far Columbus is down 1-0 to Minny but Dallas is up 2-0 over SJ and if they win they move into 8th place in the West. Gotta hope that SJ comes back but I've gotta say picking up an extra point in either of the past 2 games would of been nice.

Edit: Well then, I think I'm not even going to comment about a game anymore. Columbus is now up 2-1 against Minny. I guess if Minny loses they're now just 1 point up on us.

Locker room culture has been a huge emphasis for all the moves in Dallas. Huge. Since the Avery situation they have systematically removed every potential attitude problem one by one. That includes all the leadership that whined about Avery: Morrow, Turco, Modano, Ribeiro and Ott. That was the core of the team and they were asked, one by one, to leave.

While some of the trades have appeared to lack high end talent for GM Joe, he's been trying to assemble a cast of down to earth hard working hockey players. Will this translate into wins? I don't know. I'm skeptical. But he's certainly wanted to send a message as to what type of player has a future on the Stars.

As for the upswing in play, they've got Alex Chiasson playing LIGHTS OUT. It's incredible. This is his 6th NHL game and he's scored his 6 goal. What a start for him. He only had 13 goals in over 50 AHL games this year, so this is kind of unexpected.

But seriously, the Stars look scrappy and hungry. Younger and faster than they have in many years. It likely won't last, but it's nice to see positive signs from a team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 4 years.

Looks like Cbus and Minny will be a 3 point game. Last thing we wanted.

Gross, Minny better win it in a shootout then. If they're gonna move up to 2 points ahead of us might as hope they get to 3 and that Cbus stays 1 point behind us.

and? its important that we are in at the 27th. we beat the stars anyway. and the other games we will win at least 3 of them. that should be good enough. and minni is loosing like hell the last games. i guess we will end up in 7th or 6th.

I bolded the games I think that each team will win. The rest are toss ups, if we win those 3 games then beat Phoenix & Dallas we make it. There are still so many scenarios left that it almost doesn't make sense to talk about them until we have 4 or 5 games left. Regardless of what happens with the other teams a loss to Calgary or Nasville will seriously hurt and possibly end our playoff hopes, they are MUST win games and I hope everyone on the team plays like it.

It looks like we have the 2nd easiest set of games but we all know what happens when we have gimme wins.

Exactly why I think it's pointless to talk about games being relatively easy or gimmes. The Wings have had games where they struggled to beat bottom dwellers.

Minnesota has Cullen and Heatley out and Suter appears to be playing hurt.

That explains their recent troubles a bit

Babcock said only change tonight is Smith in for Quincey. Zetterberg is playing. Howard starting, of course

Hopefully they can take a page out of Dallas' book and start winning some mother****ing MUST WIN games. If they lose this game they don't deserve to make the playoffs.

Since when did Forsberg cross the pond? I'm a bit upset that they let him come over and play in the NHL but Jarnkrok wasn't allowed. I know he would have been over matched but I'd like to see what he could do with NHL Caliber talent.

Big 2 points.

Forsberg looked pretty good for the Preds from what I saw. A little small/ weak/ hesitant at times, but more assertive at others.

The more I look at the playoff race, the more I think that Detroit can do much better than 8th. San Jose is a whopping 2 points ahead in FIFTH. It wouldn't take much. Teams trend upward and downward, and with 6/7 games left, anything can happen. Just putting a different spin on the race at 8th.

I'm actually surprised SJ are only two points ahead at 5th spot, although one game in hand. You're so caught up looking at who's chasing you. These teams have pretty good schedules left though. Realistically I think Detroit winds up 7, 8 or 9 and there's a huge difference between finishing 7 or 8 right now.

Huge win against a crappy team.
Jimmy made some big saves early.
But really, Nashville has very little skill.

If we can get 2-3 more points in the next two games, we'll have done a good job on this trip.

Credit to Filppula and Kronwall, who had really strong games today but didn't get any points/recognition.
