Credit to the Blue Jackets.
They won it. And they won it outright. Didn't wait for a shootout

CBJ now has a 3 point lead, but the Wings have 2 games in hand.

Bottom line is, if LA can hold off the stars, Detroit controls its own destiny

Dallas scores. 2-2. Pending high stick review.

edit - it's a high stick but it's not reviewable since it didn't go right in the net. Classic.

I don't know. By the looks of it, we can catch both C-bus and Minny

Two giveaways leads to 2 goals. Unbelievable. We HAVE to win tomorrow night, puts us 1 point back with us possibly being 1 point up on them come Thursday. Winning the next 3 would be huge, puts us at 54 points and if Dallas can beat CBJ on Thursday we are in. If Dallas loses tonight and we get that 3 game winning streak they're eliminated.

Remember that time when we got screwed out of goal like that in a 1 goal game...

Like I said, Minny closes with Edmonton and Colorado. They're in. The Wings have Nashville but they have Dallas and Phoenix. Minny's not losing all three and Detroit's probably not winning all three.

Yeah. Forget 7th.

If Dallas wins tonight ---

We're in a 4-way battle for 8th

And if we lose to Phoenix, we're screwed.

If Dallas wins tonight -- the entire season teeters on tomorrow's game.

An outright loss to Phx after a Dallas win tonight would put us in 11th.

it's not so bad to need a little help to get in.

But when you need help from 3 other teams... you're pressing your luck

Exhibit A that the NHL landscape is changing for the Wings (and Wings fans):

Detroit goes 1-3-1 against Columbus this year and has to root for other teams to beat the Jackets (preferably in regulation) to have a hope of making the playoffs.

Gotta figure that C-bus would love nothing more than to not only make the PO's, but also get to break the Wings' PO streak in the process in the final year playing in the same division. Might be a little added motivation in their locker room, especially among the guys who have been there a while and were accustomed to having the Wings beat them down on a regular basis.

there really aren't many long-time Jackets around.
Jared Boll? Fedor Tyutin/ RJ Umberberg?

I think we're gonna need 6 points in these last 4 games to get in. It really all hinges on a) if the Stars win tonight & b) the Jackets-Stars game on Thursday. If we've beaten Phoenix & LA we're in 8th, assuming the Wild beat LA if they don't we're in 7th, by 1 point. If the Jackets lose the game in regulation against Dallas all we need is 1 point in the final 2 games to get in.

That's hinging on a lot.

Detroit put some serious effort into last game, and they still only came out with one point.

Detroit is basically playing "win or die" with these last few games. They can't afford a single loss at this point. Not leading up to Dallas.

Yeah, I know that a lot of those guys have moved on, but there are a handful who have to love the run they are on, and being in front of Detroit.

Totally agree that they deserve full credit- they are playing well down the stretch (7-3-0 in their last 10) and the Wings aren't (3-4-3). Take away the team names and look only at the records, and you probably wouldn't guess that the team with all of the PO experience, big name coach, and star players is the one stumbling as the season ends.

Losing tomorrow could be a backbreaker.

Gotta figure that since either Columbus or Dallas will get 2 on Thursday (and the loser might still get one), the Wings may need to root for Dallas to win in regulation on Thursday just to make their finale mean something. If Dallas wins tonight and beats C-bus Thursday, they're in great shape.

**** just got real in LA.

LA has a goal waved off when Lehtonen gets bowled over by his own guy and the puck goes in. LA might have pushed him in, video is not really conclusive. Refs rule it incidental, no penalty, no goal.

5 seconds later the Stars score at the other end.

Wow.

I agree. A 3 game winning streak would be huge & if Dallas loses in regulation tonight they are no longer in the playoff race, assuming we get that 3 game winning streak.

I can't say I'm not enjoying this race but if we're ever in this situation again I don't think it'll be as fun, especially if we've missed the playoffs recently.

Kings tie it up. If you're not watching this game and you've got NHLN, you should go put it on right now. Very entertaining.
