There are only 2 playoff teams with a negative goal differential.

The Wings and the Islanders. And pretty much every other non-playoff team is a negative differential.

Does not bode well -_-

Lucky for us no other Western non playoff team has a positive goal differential. So there's that.

Lehtonen left the game with an injury, so hopefully he's out for a few games.

Wishing for a player to stay out due to injury? You're such a butt.

The Sharks are even. We have a positive goal differential most of the season if I remember right.

The 7-1 Blackhawks loss really put a dent in our #. Pretty sure we were between +5 and +10 for most of the year.

Yeah but we also wrecked Vancouver pretty hard.

It evens out mostly.

Yeah, was meaning more chronologically than balance-wise. I think most of our wins have been close ones, 1 or 2 goal games for the most part, with the Canuck games sticking out as being pretty significant wins. Just that, until that Hawks loss, we had had a pretty consistent ~+10 type number, from what I recall.

Wings, but this year I really don't want them to make the playoffs for obvious reasons. I don't want to see them get embarassed by the Hawks, I want them to get high draft picks, I want Kenny Holland to realize the errors he's made and hopefully this will make him change up the roster during the summer because they will move to East, and that will be TOUGH.

Dallas won and is only 2 pts behind now, both teams 9 games remaining, and they will play eachother on the last game of the season.

And you really thing finishing 17th overall in the league, a point or two out of a playoff spot, is going to give us a decent enough pick to make a difference?

It's not.

Look, I don't want to watch the red wings get swept by the hawks, it's just no fun.

I want KH to feel adversity for real, his beloved streak FINITO, hopefully that opens up his eyes a bit.

He'll just blame it on the injuries and say getting those guys back next year is the best trade he can make

There are plenty of people way beyond just Ken Holland who do not wish to see this playoff streak end. So when you want to see this team lose as much as you want, you're not just opposing GMKH, you're opposing a good size of the fanbase as well.

It's just two different ways looking at it / being a fan.

You want to be in the playoffs, exit in first round year after year with minimal changes in roster etc.

Where as I, want to see a missed playoffs so that management must re-think a thing or two. If they keep going into the playoffs as 5-8th seeds they won't change a damn thing ("We just need to get into the playoffs anything can happend yada yada yada). I want this team to become a powerhouse team again, not just mediocre and exiting in first or (when lucky) second round.

Changing in philosophy and re-tool the roster is an absolute key to future success.

I'm leaning on mindfly's side right now. I can't honestly cheer for my team to lose. If I'm watching a game, I am 110% cheering for a W. But if we lose in another 5 or 6 game series in the first round, I think you have to start to consider more than just tinkering with the roster. Serious changes are needed in our forward group, I think. D is young and coming along, but we need better top 6 players outside of Datsyuk&Zetterberg. Missing the playoffs could be the only way Ken considers doing something like that.

I say we stone him.

Kidding. But that seems like such a weird position to take. Missing the playoffs doesn't result in an automatic change of Hollands philosophy / plan. Playoffs or not im sure we can all scribble next years roster the same anyways. Personally I look at the prospect pool and I'm ok with what's coming. I just wish Datsyuk was 30.

Anyway.... Interesting times. 22 (?) years. Never been so close to missing this late. A small glimpse on what it's like to be a leafs fan. If we miss it'll be pretty gross.

Yeah, that is the frustrating part. You would think/ hope missing the playoffs stirs up a bit of change in the organization, but it just as likely won't. Sucks to be a near make/miss team.

Between games I'm inclining more on tank.

But during games I'm all about W.

I think it's fair to question results not philosophy. We made a competitive offer to the top ufa forward last year. We've been in the discussion for I think all ( or most) big names that were in play for trades.

And the people who think Holland is misguided probably don't / shouldn't care what those fans think.
