This much is clear, Tavares needs at least one linemate that keeps the other team honest, or at least makes the other team think twice before giving Tavares an extra shot. ONE linemate that does nothing outside of scoring a decent amount of goals (provided by Tavares' passing I may add) is enough. Meaning, neither Moulson nor Boyes hits, fights, plays solid defense or does anything outside of providing decent offensive tools. Moulson is fine, but Boyes needs to be replaced by a guy with more size, and/or hits and stands up for Tavares... Heck, Martin would have almost as many points as Boyes simply by being the recipient of Tavares' passes, and would open up space for Tavares with his aggressive style and hitting ability... if not Martin, perhaps Lee has the size/grit to go along with good offensive skills, to potentially be the type of linemate Tavares needs opposite Moulson... But Moulson and Boyes play too similar a style.. Neither hits nor plays aggressive enough to open up space or protect Tavares. Heck, Bailey may not have the size, but the kid is playing with a determination and passion like no other time in his career before, and he has skill Boyes could only dream of.... Bailey is hitting and driving hard to the net, along with show-casing the skill level we drafted him for in the first place.

Just give Tavares more protection is what I'm asking!!
I do believe Martin could serve that role...he's a hitter and captained the sarnia sting in his junior days. Guy has skills.

Moulson is useless. JT should be league MVP, his production while playing with 2 one dimensional players is incredible. This game was a good barometer of what playoff hockey will be like for JT. Garth and Charles better do something to help this kid out for next year, or what a waste of a superbly talented player.

I think its pretty clear at this point that JT and The Isles will have to go through Growing pains until hopfully our Prospects emerge...

Outside of us winning the game outright, tonight's outcomes of all games involving teams around us in the standings was literally the 2nd best one possible.

Need to start having some of these teams with games in hand on us like the Rags and Devils taking some L's.

In all honesty I think I rather seen Philly lose, but Toronto losing does have some advantages(if they completely collapse the rest of this season)

I missed the game, but coming away with a point is huge. I'm glad to read that the Isles played hard and earned that point. I was expecting them to come out flat.

The 'vet' fwds we've signed over the past 2-3 years have ALL been duds. A waste of time, money and space. Just suck the life right outta this team. No heart.

Boyes - garbage
Reasoner - garbage
Rolston - garbage
Pandolfo - garbage
Aucoin - meh, ok I guess

I really feel for JT. His line (specificly boyes) has been godawful. He's been a minus far too many games, where at this time last year the guy was clearly the best player on the ice every game.
Boyes doesn't belong anywhere near this roster, let alone our top line. I don't know what the heck our coaches are thinking. He started off ok in January but It's been quite a few games now where he's been just dreadful. So bad where I don't think he'd be an upgrade over anyother winger we have. I don't see him improving any line. None.

Sit the effing guy already. Make him watch in the press box. We have so many GOOD young players chomping at the bit to play...let them friggin play!!! Nevermind these has-beens!

Yeah, but he scored 30 goals back when Bush was president, so he must be good.

Just got back from the game, really an amazing atmosphere especially at the end of the game. Very few Isles' fans at the Verizon Center, but always a nod or a high-five when we see one another!

Regarding the game, I haven't read through the board yet but my god Brad Boyes and Matt Moulson but great to see KO get rewarded for all he's done. A huge point and a big game for the boys!

Garth has absolutely no idea on how to surround his young talent with quality veterans.. Whether its dollars or him just not looking either way its been a big problem with this team.

He should be the 4th line center and Cizikas should be the 3rd line centering Grabner and McDonald. Not sure why Cizikas isn't on the 3rd line.

At this point I would take Aucion on the first line with Tavares and Moulson. lol

Capuano will continue to stick to the, "We're doing well and don't want to shake anything up," line.

I don't know if it's him not knowing, or if it's him legitimately trying but falling short given the restraints we all know about.

But either way, the vet fwds we've had recently have been incredibly terrible. So terrible that their terribleness is strong enough to bring our young gems down to their level.
It happened to bailey last year with Rolston, niño with Pando and reasoner, and now its happening again this year with our golden boy JT....just getting the life sucked out of him by Boyes.

I like a lot of what snow has done with this team, I give him a lot of credit and want to see him be the one to see out his plan. But man, I just can't believe it, we want catch a break with any of these vets we bring in lol

I'm happy with the way the Isles played, they were excellent defensively. Hickey and Martinek were particularly good.

Boyes and Moulson are horrible players....I can't seem to avoid making that state, net every game....maybe secretly hoping Capuano's niece/nephew send him the link to a post.

Bailey/Okposo have been outstanding of late.

Cizikas, Martin, McDonald, Aucoin, Reasoner (yes, him), Nielsen just continue to play excellent all around hockey.

Grabner needs to play with Nielsen, no point having him out there by himself.

The lines need a major shake up. I think it's time Boyes and Aucoin sit for a game or two.

Agree 100%.

Tavares is not producing, so the other two clowns go silent. Where are their fanboys now? Crickets.

They are in the playoffs by the barest margin, and all the other clubs have games in hand.

leaving a point on the table in a tight race never leaves me with a good feeling, but facts are that in years past, we would have been the team to blow the lead sending it into overtime and not vice a versa...

we are now in 7th place again, 4 points behind toronto

I don't understand all the moulson hate. He has and will always will play well with Tavares. Thirty goals for three years is nothing to laugh at. I think Boyes is the guy that needs to be moved.

Would it kill cappy to give Martin or Grabner a shot on that line? Tavares had been playing too physical in my opinion and Martin would help keep guys off his back.

On the other hand, Grabner is good at creating his own chances with his speed, I wonder what he would be able to do with a great center like Tavares.

If the Rangers can trade Gaborik, for basically parts, why can't Garth before the draft do a Moulson, 1st, +, for a Bobby Ryan? Cap going down, Moulson on a decent contract, as far as being JT's buddy, doesnt he want to win more than be buddies?

#1 I think it is time for Okposo to go up there and show his stuff. It would be nice for there to be someone who can score without the help of JT (or little of it). #2 is Kyle actually moves his skates, gets open and able to muscle pucks out for JT. All things Brad does not do...at all.

that 'sidneythekidney' penguin fan who frequents these boards made an excellent point last year. Its Garth's shortcoming. Last year he OBVIOUSLY had around $8mil+ to spend, he decided to spend it on Pandolfo, Reasoner(which was a bust but a valiant try to upgrade over Konopka) and Brian ****ing Rolston. HE decided that Rolston was worth spending $5mil on himself. Even tho every single devils fan said he was a lazy whining piece of crap, nope, Garth knew better.

Whether he does or does not have "fiscal restraints", he's never shown an ability to assess and add to this roster with quality pieces, just tired, worn out players at the end of their careers who really have nothing to offer.

Wasn't the Rolston signing mad to get to the cap floor???And that money was in bonuses to get up to 5 million right? I really honestly remember it like that. (I could be wrong)

He decided Rolston was worth $5m because he got rid of Hunter's $4m in the process. He traded Rolston at the deadline in a "hey can you do me a favor" trade with the Bruins and ended up actually saving money if you math it out. Pandolfo was signed to one of those ********* contracts with the inflated bonus money.

It's all about the money and cap hits... not who's the best player for the team.

I don't want okposo on the first line, he doesn't seem to hsndle the pressure there very well and that second line is firing on all cylinders. I would JJ and lee a look in practice because it wouldn't require changes on the other lines.

I also really don't think it would be horrible to give niño or strome a look to try to catch lightning in a bottle
