Rinaldo vs Kaleta vs Cooke

If your team HAD to sign and play one of these players on a regular spot for your team, who would you rather have between these 3 gentlemen ?

Kaleta's our best PK forward, probably. I don't think Cooke would be an upgrade there.

Easily Rinaldo. Never had much of an issue with him.

Rinaldo, Cooke, pass; in that order. Would never take Kaleta on my team.

Rinaldo at least stands up for himself and I don't believe he is anywhere close to being as dirty as the other two.

Rinaldo, easily. Hes the cleanest and most effective player of the group.

What is the bolded even based on?

Look, I'm not going to bother getting into who is dirtier. Matt Cooke will always be considered dirtier than any player he's compared to on HF. So it's not even worth the discussion.

But most effective player? You're comparing Cooke to two fourth line players. Cooke has scored over 10 goals pretty much every season of his career. He chips in around 30 points as well to go along with his physicality and PK ability.

In comparison, Rinaldo hasn't even scored 10 goals career, let alone score 10 or more in a season. Hell, he barely scored 10 goals in a season *junior hockey*.

I understand the overall hatred for Cooke and so if people want to say they don't want him on their team because of that, fine. But it's ludicrous to suggest Rinaldo is more effective as a player.

Rinaldo.

Cooke is pure slime and doesn't deserve to play in the NHL.

Kaleta is just straight up a punk... bark is bigger than bite

Rinaldo is the new Chris Neil.

Offense shouldn't even be brought up in this comparison, neither of these players are worth a **** offensively. Zac is easily more effective than Cooke, Zac is far superior physically and has an actual intimidating factor that Cooke will never have because he doesn't drop the gloves routinely. Rinaldo also draws more penalties than the majority of the league while the flyers have the best power play in the league. Rinaldo probably is responsible for more PP goals than Cooke has scored.

What can Rinaldo do besides snarl and charge ?

Matt Cooke is actually one of the better Pkers in the league.

Cooke is better on the PK. Cooke is better defensively. So because Rinaldo is a better hitter and draws more penalties, that negates everything else (offense, defense, and PK ability) where Cooke has an advantage?

Cooke's not really a pest or agitator anymore. Just a grinder who plays top PK minutes, occasional PP minutes, and chips up 15 goals / 35 points a season.

Not sure if you actually have been paying attention but Zac has been used for his defensive game more and more often and on the PK. I'm failing to see how Cooke has a significant defensive or PK advantage.

The poll results are pretty telling. Besides the fact that Rinaldo is more effective ( you can debate that if you want) while being slotted on the 4th line, while Cooke is wasting a third line spot.

Uh, Cooke averages 2:20 per game on the PK, compared to Rinaldo's 0:01 on the PK. How is Rinaldo being used on the PK at all if he's averaging a second of PK time per game?

Zac Rinaldo also has the third weakest Quality of Competiton on the Flyers, while Cooke is tied for the second highest QoC on the Pens among forwards.

The only advantage Rinaldo has is hitting and drawing penalties. Every single other hockey category, Cooke has the edge.

Of course Cooke is losing this poll. The majority of the replies are saying they don't want him because they think he's a dirtbag and scum, not because of his actual hockey ability.

Please don't suggest Cooke is above being a Pest/Agitator. The guy is a dirtbag, that'll never change no matter how hard he tries to disguise it. I like Rinaldos energy and speed so I pick him. Kaleta works too.

I'm not sure about defensive play or PK ability but Rinaldo certainly has advantages;

- faster, better skater
- better energy
- looks to kill someone ( legally ) each and every shift
- is actually classy for his role
- better physically
- cheaper
- better smile

Rinaldo isn't half as bad as people make him out to be.

I'd take him on the Leafs any day.

Cooke can play a bit. I take him easily.

Rinaldo is decent as a 4th line energy player and scrapper, but Cooke is a better hockey player.

Kaleta is a b****. Useless garbage.
