His passing is about the only thing he can do very well. When he has the puck, the guy can't move. That's not going to get you far in this league. I just don't see the skating skills he needs, especially to play center.

You did see he was the only one who could get the puck to offensive zone on pp by skating?

I've been pleasantly surprised by his skating - at least without the puck. As if he had found a couple of notches more speed lately. He will be a speed demon come the next season...

The game is really starting to slow down for him. Oh the good things to come.

Next season Zuck -Granny-Coyle. Secondary scoring baby.

Please tell me what exactly what about his skating is so bad?

Could it be better, of course, but I do not see his skating as being that bad.

It might not be his skating itself at all. Somehow though when he has the puck on his stick, his feet can't move like they do when he doesn't have the puck. It could be that he can't handle the puck at speed. It could be mental like a lack of confidence. I can't quite tell what the root problem is. But it's not hard to see the difference in his speed with and without the puck. Something is missing, and I'm afraid it's not something that you can just work on and fix.

PMB needs to be tied to his own fridge so he cant come and play. I think putting anyone including Rupp on MiG's line would be better. Butcher is just not doing the 2nd line any favors, i think its time to bring up Zucker. **** your 4 player call up limit.

It's the way he's used to playing. He could afford not to move fast with the puck in Finland. It's a mentality thing, he just needs to get used to a different brand of hockey. It is fixable.

His skating itself been a far smaller issue than I expected it to be. It can and should be better for a small player like him, but he can improve it to a certain extent.

I am actually not too concerned about his stride or speed...just has to keep his feet moving. As you said, he was not pressured in Finland or even in the AHL like he is in the NHL. I really liked his game last night. Was aggressive on the forecheck and kept skating with the puck for the most part.

I have really liked Granlund's play ever since he's been called up. He looks like the same FBJ I used to watch in FEL. When he plays like that, he's a really entertaining player to watch.

He was the ONLY bright spot last night. He was our best forward last night and has played well since he was called back up. His skill is incredible, I am just really getting to know it now. Amazing stuff.

Now only if he can get away from players like PMD who do not appreciate what he has to offer.

I'm just waiting for him getting a penalty shot. It will be interesting to see how his dekes work in the big league.

Granlund was the only player on our team to stand out last night. Made some real nifty passes and was moving his feet well. Also made a few obivous mistakes. I do like what I am starting to see but wouldn't mind a little more time in the AHL for him.

In Granlunds last 11 AHL games he had a total of 2 goals. He was also pointless in his last 3 AHL games, so YES he has some work to do.

He'll be lucky to be a center in this league.

What? But Johan Larson would have been a great center?

It really is amazing how quickly some give up on a prospect. He has played well since he was called up.

I'm not worried at all.

I havent given up on Granlund--just at this time think he is overrated and needs alot of work, not unlike most prospects before he is ready for the NHL.
As I mentioned earlier, 2 goals in his last 11 AHL games, no points in his last 3 AHL games coupled with a total of 1 goal in 23 NHL games, well for an offensive undersized guy thats not cutting it. Even the most die hard Finnish fan can see that.Needs alot more minor pro time in my opinion.

Overrated? No. At least for what he did in Finland & the WC. IMO he's now starting to get North American style of play.

Play in FEL is very different compared to NHL. That is not an excuse, it's a fact.

But I agree that he needs to develop and score some more points - but he needs to be given a chance to develop chemistry with his linemates in the NHL. Either this season or the next one.

Right now, with Cullen out, he needs to be up.

The NHL is NOT a developmental league--its about WINNING. The fact that FEL is so different than North American hockey is exactly why Granlund should be in the AHL, which is a developmental league. Thats where guys from CDN major junior go or US college because like FEL it is totally different from the NHL.

Not a slam on Granlund its just reality--he'll be fine, but needs alot more seasoning before he is ready for the rigors of the NHL/

If you dont get this , then this is a pointless debate on my part and Ill just move on
