Carl Soderberg to N.A. - Boston Bruins

How likely is it that Carl Soderberg comes over after the playoffs in Sweden?

Would be a big boost to the Bruins offence one would think, amazing year for him.

I'll believe it when I see it. We've done this song and dance many times before.

ha. I'm not holding my breath. The Soderberg saga will continue until the guy retires, and he probably wont play a single NHL game.

We think/want/hope he comes over after the SEL playoffs are over. Management seems extremely pleased with the progress they've made, it seems that he actually wants to come over. They just need to negotiate a contract.

He's a big guy with a lot of skill, he'd be a Peverley-esque addition like in 2011. Would play on the 3rd line, but a terrific depth addition if anyone goes down in the top-6. Especially if Kelly isn't back, he could be a huge boost. We've always known his talent level is unreal, hopefully if he comes over it'll transfer.

TSN mentioned him as a potential trade chip during the BOS/TOR broadcast last night. Would make sense IMO.

I thought it was more in reference to being like the addition of a player at the deadline without making a deal, not so much that they believed Boston was going to move him, but I could be wrong.

If there was any imaginable deal between Vancouver and Boston, Soderberg would be a good fit.

another great blunder in Blues History... although Soderberg was thought to have suffered a career ending eye injury when he was a highly regarded Blues prospect. Good luck Carl.

I believe it was more of a reference to him being the piece for the team, not the piece to get a piece for the team.

How was it a blunder? The guy hasn't played a single NHL game. Toivonen may have sucked, but atleast he played in the NHL.

Wouldnt he have to clear waivers to come over, or if it's after the trade deadline isnt he ineligible to play this year?

I don't think he's allowed to play a game in the NHL this season period. I know Calle Jarnkrok, our prized center prospect just got over here and Ken Holland talked to Bill Daly about Jarnkrok getting time in Detroit and with the rule changes in the last CBA he is only eligible for AHL games UP UNTIL April 15 I believe... No playoffs whatsoever.

He's allowed to play this season and doesn't need to clear waivers.

It's possible I misheard, although in that case I would find it strange to suggest a guy who's never played in the NHL before could be a "missing piece" to a playoff run. I know he's not some 19 year old kid but still.

He's our property, so no, he can play right away and he wouldn't have to clear waivers.

However, ESPN New York writer Katie Strang said she talked to Bill Daly and that players in that situation CAN play in the NHL. It's one big cluster**** and nobody really knows what the rules are, including Bill Daly it seems.

No we haven't. He has never said that he will come over for the play offs before. Now he has. That's a big differense. Before he said he will come over when he's ready. Now it looks like he feel he's ready, because he's one of the two biggest stars in SEL.
