Who has that statistic of the combined record of all the eastern teams in the race in the last 5-10 games? its something ridiculous like 24-3 wasn't it?

I have to agree it looks like our last best chance is to beat out the Sens for that final spot (never thought that would be possible). We have to hope that the Caps beat them (yuck) and we have to win out. It's not over yet but man it's sure getting close.

I do have to admit, all I asked for this year from the team is to be there right to the bitter end, so even if they do miss out, after the disappointment dissipates, I will be proud of the team and happy with the progression this season. I think we will be in good shape to be a bona fide playoff contender next season either way.

Yeah, it's really weird. I don't think I've ever seen so many teams pick their game up at the end of an albeit shortened season.

I'm starting to think our best shot of getting in is to sneak in over top of Ottawa. I'm sure someone's pointed that out already though.

Ottawa's remaining 4 games: vs. PIT, @ WSH, vs. PHI, @ BOS.

That's a much tougher schedule than what the Rangers are looking at. It's something at least.

It ends up being pretty favorable that Washington and Ottawa play eachother because it means one team has to lose. Whoever does win though has to do it in 60 minutes.

took a quick peek at the Sens board- lots of folks hoping for revenge on Matt Cooke tonight... interesting to see how it goes down there tonight

only outcome I really care about is Pens beat 'em on the scoreboard

Why does it seem like the Penguins announcer is pulling for the Jets to make it?

Just want to wish you guys luck tomorrow and mention just how classy a lot of you guys are. I don't think I've seen so much anti-hate and well wishes on the Capitals board in awhile. Our own members treat each other worse. X_X Cheers to you all.

Sens may be the team we have to catch. Rangers and Isles seem to be playing well, Sens - not so much.

Now let's get a big win tomorrow. Jets are playing with a ton of heart and effort. Guys are going done with injuries and they continue to gut out wins. Nice to see.

Nice job having Trouba taking the pre-game skate. Bit of fun. Then they seemed to be very focused tonight. Dominated for most of the game. Enroth was crazy good except for Mittens GW.

But other than Enroth, and maybe Stafford, the Sabres looked gawd awful tonight. They've cashed their chips in, and are playing like they want a better draft pick. Vanek might be the biggest floater in the league now that OV is turning it around a bit. Jets were the much better team tonight.

Edit: and Oil are tanking nicely again. Perhaps to get 1st overall again?

Thanks, it's been a fun little romp for us in the Southeast. Hopefully we can still get that banner!

Should be a dandy tomorrow, good luck as well.

Oh man I'm gonna be so excited if we can beat the Caps in regulation tomorrow. If we beat them in regulation then I think we get in. I mean after the three thrashings we got at home we are due to beat this Washington team right?

I'm hoping that the Isles can close out the season solidly now and move the Leafs into 6th.
I would love to see a Caps-Leafs first round series with the Caps dominating.

Karlsson's (who may end up playing tomorrow) and Redmond's returns to pro hockey this fast are mind boggling. Just makes me think.....

Maybe Redmond's fast return is the Karma the jets were owed back by the "hockey gods" after that stretch run.

But in all actuality, when I think about it, I'm happy to miss the playoffs and know that a young jet is alive and still promising, over the alternative of wearing a "ZR" sticker on the helmets to match the "RR" we already wear.

Not that it's one or the other, but if we got to choose where we got our luck this year, I'd take Redmond's life an infinite amount of times before I'd ever dream of taking the contrary. It's not that we had terrible luck (though his injury is also bad luck, fair enough) all year in every respect, it just didn't come in the form of luck on the OOT scoreboard.

What's up with the fans in Detroit? For the last few years, every game I've seen on tv there are lots of empty seats. Hockeytown my ass

The Leafs are slipping ever so softly into #6 so they can get swept by the Caps.

I guess the ticket prices went up 75% because they know they are only going to get revenue for two games.

Apparently there's a section somewhere in the arena for club members to hang out at during the game. I think that's the explanation for the empty seats - club members watching the game, talking business, etc. from the club lounge area. In this respect, they are similar to Leaf fans in the lower bowl of the Air Canada Centre.

Hockeytown U.S.A. should actually be the Twin Cities. High School, College and Pros all draw excellent crowds there.
