so what is our pick right now? I really hope we see some upsets in the playoffs so we can move up in picks. Go Wilds/Sens/Wings/Islanders/Laughs

I think best case is 22, worst case is 26. All in all, not much difference, just a better shot a picking our guy, and not taking the best faller.

22 and 26 makes a difference between drafting a guy like Lazar to drafting a guy like Hovart

I think both are long gone by 22 anyways, but I get your point.

Sounds like Lazar might even crack the top ten at this point. Shame.

Adam Erne looks really nice at our spot. Looks like Lazar Gauthier Mantha Horvat will be taken in the top 20. Zykov would be a great pick too.

4 / 6 of your suggestions are from the Q. Unfortunately, Q drafting has been horrible, 2 2nd, 2 3rds (or something like that) and they can't even crack an Ahl lineup. Also, last 2 picks were from Rimouski and Quebec, two teams whose prospects are over hyped (they supposedly have 5 in the top 60 this year?).

Are you sure this is accurate? We're at 24th with regard to points, but an early exit from the playoffs should move us up.

Is this a draft where it would make sense for you guys to move up as close to the top 10 as appropriate - or not in your game plan?

re Lazar - are you running the risk you end up with a guy who hits a 3rd line ceiling?

Depends on what management decides to do. Do we try again for a full out cup-run next year? Or try to rebuild on the fly?

i want to be careful...b/c obviously i'm not a huge canucks fan - so i don't want to seem smarmy. but imo...you have too much quality to try suddenly start rebuilding ... you'd benefit from high end prospects (whether it's trading for higher picks or an already drafted prospect). the hawks have gotten lucky w/ the draft recently - they got leddy as part of the barker trade; they got saad in the second round; and they got teravainen mid/late round. if you keep the pick then it might be worthwhile to go high risk/high reward - even over someone like lazar who might seem certain for the nhl but also might be a really good 3rd liner

the other problem with a mini-rebuild is if you want to get the great player you have to be willing to give up something another team really wants...and maybe you're a bit like the hawks where that's not so easy to do??

I wish we didn't win the division for the sole reason that we're stuck drafting like 24th this draft.

so if islander or wilds pull off an upset 1st round won't we move up?

No. We won our division and are stuck in the 24-30th spot unless the Stanley Cup Winner and Stanley Cup Finalist are non-division winners from my understanding.

The remaining order is determined by the Stanley Cup playoff results.[8] Whichever team wins the Stanley Cup is awarded the 30th and last pick, while the runner-up is given the 29th pick. The teams eliminated in the conference finals are awarded the 28th and 27th picks, with the 28th pick going to the team with the better regular season record. Remaining division winners are then sorted by points, then the rest of the field are ranked next, filling in the 26th through 15th picks. In both cases, better records result in later picks.
From Wiki, please refer to it.

It all depends on whether PIT, MTL, CHI or ANA lose in the Qtr/Semi finals.

The range we select in is 22-26.

Hoping we can somehow swing a deal for a top 10 pick. They all look like future impact players.
