Boston - Philadelphia

Boston: Wayne Simmonds

Philadelphia: Johnny Boychuk, Jordan Caron

Philly gets a solid consistent Dman they've been coveting (20min reg 23 in playoffs). Also get a NHL ready forward who has size (6-2)

Bruins get a forward who can replace Horton if he goes or starts on a remade third line if they trade Kelly and/or Peverley.

EDIT: Oops didn't see the previous thread.

Eh yeah it doesn't have tht Flashy effect to it, but it's two solid Defensive Defensmen that are young and on good contracts as well as a goal scoring Prospect. It would seem Defense is the Flyers problem.

But again I can see where with no guy with a "wow factor" coming back it'd be a tough buy

Think of how much you guys value Lucic and what you'd expect for him (ie - he's not really available) and that's how we view/expect for Simmonds.

It's just not realistic to ask for him in a trade. I completely understand why you'd want him and it's the same reason we want to keep him. WE'D love to get Lucic but we know the cost to acquire him just isn't realistic.

The Flyers have plenty of defensive dmen with more grooming in our prospect pool. What we don't have is a PMD worthy of top pairng duties (after Timonen is retired).

As much as I'd LOVE to have Hamilton, he really doesn't fill a "need" on our blueline.

It's not so much that defense is the problem. It's puck moving D men that's the problem.

Trading for more defensive D men is a bad idea

lol terrible for the flyers, sorry flyers fans. Equivalent of Flyers fans asking for Lucic in exchange for Meszaros and Rinaldo...Caron is brutal, the guy will never be more than a 4th liner. Meszaros is decent like Boychuk but neither are more than a 3-4 dman. Simmonds is a beauty. I would move Seguin and Mcquaid as well as one of our top prospects for Schenn and Simmonds. I think Seguin would hold more value than Schenn, even though I think Seguin is garbage. I would like to keep the top 6 with Krejci, Lucic, Horton, Bergeron and Marchand, with another guy like Simmonds to round that out. Seguin just doesn't fit in well on this team and could do well with the Flyers.

Replace Caron with a better prospect and I think it's pretty fair. Maybe that Swedish goalie prospect they have in Providence?

Seguin, McQuaid, Hamilton, Spooner, Krug, Bartkowski, Svedberg. Anyone been overlooked? Just trade away half the team and call it a wrap.

Simmonds isn't like most forwards. He's something of a rare commodity in the NHL and that makes him more valuable than just his stat line. He's cheap too, so we have little reason to trade him outside of a good deal.

Simmonds is another case of being more valuable to his team than he is to the rest of the league. Fits the Flyers identity perfectly and he's a great player to boot. It would require overpayment.

QFT. Add in that the Flyers don't a future "replacement" for him and he's just not really available. If the Flyers were to trade him they'd be right back looking for a player like him the very next day.
