Scum of the earth.

That being said, people need to be more aware of who they're donating to.

Well that's just wrong on so many level on a hockey forum

Why would anyone pay to go watch hockey? just go outside and play yourself! NHL players should really go get a real freaking job

Streaming is popular, i'm a huge fan, some streamers ooze charisma and personality and it is a real job, a very successful one when done right

One of the streamer i've been following for more than a year saved money for a while, made a 2 years budget, quit his job as a chef and started a 2 years streaming challenge, he has to stream every single day for 2 years for a minimum of 2 hours but has been averaging 7 hours/day in 15 months so far, the guy started with no viewers and built his channel from the ground up, he now has between 3000 and 7000 viewers every night regardless of the game he plays, hes making money from ads viewed, subscribers to his channel and other partnership programs like Gamesfanshop and Amazon where people buy things using his referral link, the guy never asks for donations, it's just there if you want to help

So many other great things i've seen on stream, lately i've wanted to replay all the Metal Gear games but i don't have a Ps3 or a Vita, i've been watching a 7 days marathon of Metal Gear solid where 3 guys take turns to play all the games in so many different fashions, speedruns, story run where they listen to every calls etc, easter eggs runs and god knows there's a ton in Kojima's games

Early in January there was a Speedrunslive marathon where all the popular speed runners got together in Washington and streamed for charity, they raised 450k if i remember

Then there's casters like Day9, Tastosis, Tobiwan etc who's career are to stream themselves commentate e-sports games, i know some casters from League of Legends are so popular with the community they actually got hired by Riot as a full time job to cast their tournaments

Well that reply really went longer than expected, just think before you say stupid **** , not because a douchenozzle frauded people that every streamers should ''get a real job''

You have 2790 posts on a forum dedicated entirely to watching grown men play a game. Shut up.

I'd like to point out there is a big difference between streamers and NHL players.

NHL players are the best the work has to offer in terms of their selective skill.

Most streamers are not. Like people streaming an MMO...

Although the good ones, yeah, with you on that.

So there's people who spend large portions of their spare time just watching other people play videogames?

What the hell?

I like playing vids as much as the next guy, but to just sit there on my computer and watch some random guy on the internet play seems kind of lame. Sorry guys.

It's not all that different from watching other people play sports.

Logic dictates that if they the most views, then they must be in the best when it comes to being streamers, or their viewers would go to another stream. It's not flawless and there are exceptions, but as a rule of thumb if you can pay the bills streaming, you're doing something right.

You, right now, are sitting there on your computer talking about some random guys playing a game. HFBoards isn't even a place where you watch other people play hockey, it's a place where you talk about watching other people play hockey. It's even worse than watching a stream.

Whatever floats your boat man. Personally I'd rather pay to see elite athletes play sports instead of some dude who can get a high score in a videogame. But that's just me.

Surfing the internet while watching hockey on tv costs me zero dollars. Big difference. Anyways, I'm not here to put people down, that's not my intent. I was just shocked that people pay others money to watch them play videogames.

I know, and I'm not trying to put you down either, I was just trying to draw the parallel between professional hockey and professional gaming to show that they're not that different
The reaction you're having right now is probably the same that your grand grandfather had when he learned your grandfather was paying to watch people play hockey
And just for the record, watching streams on twitch ow own3d and watching most pro tournaments is completely free. Any contribution is voluntary.
