To Montreal: MAF, First Rounder

To Pittsburgh: Ribeiro, Ryder, Zednik (Not sure if thats even enough)

Yeah I don't think so.......

lol, that, sorry to say it, is almost just as bad. You want one of the best young goalies from a sad organization, along with a chance at crosby/brule/johnson/ryan for zednik, dagenais and sundstrom... i think detroit has a better chance at winning the draft lottery then to have either of these proposals happen

I am not sure if you misse read my post but:

a) I did not offer Zednik, Dagenais and Sundstrom, I offered Ribeiro, Zednik, and Ryder

and

b) I never said I thought it was equal, I was merely suggesting that it would be more on line.

I'd say that the big mac, fries, and the mcfluery are too much for Dagenais and Sundstrom alone.

Don't forget Mike Ribeiro and Marcel Hossa too...

Boy, Habs players aren't worth much around here these days are they...

Don't laugh . . . we had several Zamboni drivers playing for the Pens the past couple of years.

I do like Sundstrom alot and presonally i feel he could offer the Pens alot more than he could offer the Habs.. as Nik's position on the Habs is more than likely be filled by one of either Plekanec or higgins.

At a push we might be able to get a 3rd pich from the pens... But either way i'm sure we'd have to give up one of our draft picks just to get the deal done... If i was GM i'm sure i'd be a little be more conservative with my initial offer maybe even have delved straight in with the SUnny 7th pick for 3rd pick offer instead.. Nevertheless with this draft i'm sure the habs oculd pick up a nice looking prospect at the top of the 4th round and definately be able to get something with an upside top of the 3rd.

I think Sundstrom is still a servicable player in this league, I agree that he might not be the best fit for the Habs, take off the 7th round draft pick Montreal has, then it's a fair trade...

Sundstrom to Pittsburgh for a 4th round draft pick...if not, Habs better off keeping him

That's the problem with Sundstrom to me. He's still an effective 3rd line checker, but not much more. Still, he knows his role and plays it well and he can still get 30+ points a year, which isn't too bad for a 3rd line guy.

That being said, he does make 1.2 mil a year and is 31 (I think) He has little trade value. Sundstrom for a 4th round pick seems to be about a fair return that we could expect from him. For this reason, I would hold on to him until his for a while and see how he does.

Sure an extra 4th would be nice, and that's his trade value, but unless some rookies/FA signings step up, he means more to the team than a 4 round pick. In the near future he might become expendable, but right now, due his trade value being so low, the Habs are better holding on to him.

I completely agree, that he still has some gas in the tank. Though it would be nice to give his spot to a rookie whether it be Plekanec or higgins. As it stands you can assume the following would be a lines.

Zed/Koivu/?
Ryder/Ribs/Dags
Bulis/Bonk/ ?
Ward/Begin/ ?

So if we could get something for Nik nw whilst he at least has the smallest trade value in him, and with the chance of a pretty deep draft then i'd be more than willing to do so. But i can see how you'd like to know what you've got than rather, with an extra draft pick and placing a rookie on our 3rd line, its a bit of an unknown in terms of what result you may get.

As i said above... my theory is trade older players when they have some value, then again thats how i'd work.

Overall i still think i;d do the trade and like i said before i've probably offered to much in my inital trade offer, you know with including the 7th round pick.... nevertheless... if this draft is as good as people are saying it will be then i'm willing togo for it with the chance of landing an extra middle of the draft player.
