Excellent. A Notre Dame reference in an admirals thread. My two favorite teams.
Ryan Suter is really playing solid defensively and smart on offense. He has improved a lot over the season. He's ready for the NHL.
It was a tough hitting game last night. Several wicked checks that sent sticks flying across the ice 20 ft in the air.
He has really, really stepped his game up since coming back from the WJC. I could see him landing a roster spot. But the Preds defense is stable enough right now that we can afford for Suter to take a leadership role in Milwaukee next year.
Is Getzlaf getting a regular shift since he's been in Cincy? If so, how has he looked?
He has, actually.
The first game I saw him in he was largely invisible in until the OT where he had a couple of nice shifts. The second time he looked a little better.
It's important to remember that these are junior players that are going to take a while to acclimate themselves. It's not fair to assume any rookie is going to come in at the end of the season and be an impact guy, except in rare occasions.
Cincinnati skipped out to a 3-0 lead after 8 minutes, Milwaukee clawed back to within one by the end of the first. Simon Gamache ties it up late in the second, and Mark Popovic scores with :13 left in the game. Cincinnati wins Game Seven 4-3, and eliminates the defending champions.
Hartford, Manchester, Binghamton and now Milwaukee all gone in the first round. Pretty hefty upsets.
