LW David Booth to Nashville for D Hal Gill and a 2013 3rd round draft pick

-Booth is a good player when he's not injured but we need to shed salary and he is one of the guys that needs to go. Nashville has trouble scoring, Booth can remedy that when he heals. He was on pace for 25+ goals last season before he got injured and this year was just really bad luck. Booth can get at least 20+ goals next season if he remains healthy.

-Gill has won a cup and is a big gritty vet defender that can shutdown players. pair him with someone quicker due to his lack of speed and that is a good tandem. He will most likely retire next season leaving room for Corrado or anther young defense prospect to step up and try to solidify a spot on the team.

I would rather have Booth on my team but due to the cap coming down there needs to be pieces moving and he is one of them.

Vancouver would be adding a pick, not Nashville.

Why the hell would Vancouver want Hal Gill?

He's slow, he can't provide offensive zone pressure and he can't make a smart transition play.

your selling him short. he is slow, but he can shutdown players and clear the front of the net. plus he provides leadership and toughness. we also unload salary

If we get rid of Booth we need to get another top 6 player. We are already short on secondary scoring. What is the extra 2.5M going to buy us?

Hal Gill isn't a shutdown defensemen anymore. Hamhuis and Garrison are shutdown d-men. Josi and Weber are capable of shutting players down.

A 38 year Hal Gill is a #6/7 dman who can PK. That's Andrew Alberts territory.

Trying to sell the Canucks fans on Hal Gill is not going to happen. The last thing the Canucks need is another left handed defensive dman.

He played the 9th most minutes of Nashville d-men (13:23).

No thanks

He may be better but his contract sucks, I doubt Nashville goes anywhere near him.

Don't want Hal Gill, he would be our 6th guy most likely. I think we will just wait and see if Booth can bounce back from his injuries

There is no way in hell the Canucks should do this. We have problems on scoring depth and a set defence, and you want to trade Booth for Hal Gill?

It'd be nice to dump Gill, but I have no interest in Booth either. I guess i'd do it.

Meh, you're 3rd is early enough. It'll do.

However, this is all assuming we acquire another forward via trade or UFA. I think Booth's time is up here, but if we strike out on everyone else, we might have to keep him.

Sure! We'll even toss in a bag of pucks!

We don't really need Booth, but hell... we probably need to dump Gill.

we'll toss in a bag of pucks and 2 rolls of tape or the rights to Radulov, whichever is more valuable.
