New York Islanders
Ryan Strome remains a top prospect, Brock Nelson had a strong year in the AHL, Griffin Reinhart had a quality season in the WHL, and drafting Ryan Pulock was a big addition. I have become more bearish on winger Kirill Kabanov, but one prospect does not change the Islanders' picture much. New York has several top talents, and many good prospects throughout the organization.

Not sure if I would even rank our prospects that hight, but I would put our defensive prospects up against any team in the NHL.

That's Corey's job....so, yeah, they probably are ranked that high league wide. Not trying to be snarky, I just see a lot of crap talk on Twitter from fellow "fans" of this team.

It's very high, but yeah, he's legit. He's promising deeper looks for all teams soon. One thing to keep in mind is he doesn't count players who had significant NHL experience. That boosts us up a bit and takes a team like Edmonton down, since their top picks make it immediately. Still, nice news to hear after the draft.

I'm not talking crap. Im not one of these negative isles fans, quite the opposite. Its great to see the Isles ranked so high, but I can have an opinion of my own.

Yeah. It really helps that Snow's drafting philosophy really seems to align tightly with qualities Pronman finds desirable.

We have a large number of high-quality prospects. It's really a pretty unusual situation.

Obviously the loss of Nino wasn't a huge problem for Pronman.

Edit: Nino had already graduated from prospect status, so he never counted vs. last year, anyway.

VCR, Viktor Crus-Rydberg will be joining Plymouth (OHL) for the 2013-14 season.
Also will be this week's prospects camp.

What are the advantages of him going to the chl? Wouldnt he be eligible to sign to play in the ahl sooner if he stayed in sweden? I guess we can scout him more if he was here and he would get more minutes in the chl.

Also plays North America style game on smaller ice. As long as young players are getting quality ice time in a good league I really don't worry too much either way though.

He was drafted, but will he be going.

I can't find any verification of it.

I think it'd be a real good move for him. He currently doesn't look to have much of a shot a Linkoping's roster at his age and with some 15+ players ahead of him in the pecking order.

I wonder if the Isles have recommended it and if he'd be ready to make that move on their recommendation?

I like this move a lot. It will really help us gauge his play against guys his age. Hopefully he's more successful than Robin Figren was (our last drafted Swede to go to juniors).

Was digging through old threads yesterday(wanted to read some of the reactions to our '08 draft while it was happening... was actually pretty interesting) and came across Figren's name. It's crazy to think how stacked our system is now compared to back then, when Figren was considered a borderline top-5 prospect.

There's a name we haven't heard in a while. Remember when we all deemed him as our #1 prospect? Yeah...

Figren had the tools but had less hockey sense then my 19 month old. He was forever out of position and could not grasp Bport or the Isles systems

For anyone interested, Florida invited Corey Trivino to their rookie camp.

I think the Figren hype happened all because of that Michigan play at the WJC.

Unfortunately for him, playing lacrosse on ice doesn't translate to success in the NHL. Ask Robert Nilsson and Rob Schremp.

For the record, I saw what you did there.

I had said that I'll start one on Monday the 15th. If someone wants to do one instead, that's fine by me as well.
