The following famine really sped up industrialisation if remember correctly (coming together with the endof the napoleonic wars as well). Who knows how different things coulda turned out...

A friend of my who is an anthropologist was saying that the super eruption of Toba 75, 000 years ago almost wiped humans off the earth. This is a very dangerous planet, Geology is a very young science and while we have learned a lot since Mt St Helen"s, we really know so little. Fact is one day another super eruption will happen. It could be tomorrow or hundred od thousands of years from now.

Pokka's offense is really starting to come around. I think he has a big year this year, then signs his ELC and comes over.

Is there a website for the tournament? Are the games being streamed?

With Pokka, Mayfield, and Pulock probably slated for Bridgeport after next season... you've got to think that one of them will emerge as the other top-4 RD to team with Hamonic for the long haul. With Visnovsky and Carkner signed for 2 more seasons, there will be 2 spots open on the right side. All high draft picks and doing well in their development so far.

Pokka's skillset seems very similar to Pulock minus the rocket launcher. Smart, efficient, good offensive instincts. Similar size and both knocked for their skating in their draft years, although Pokka's skating seemed like a bigger concern than Pulock's. In any case, both are going to be strong contenders for NHL duty. I love the depth of our defense prospects in the system. That's only the right side too, the left side prospects are just as good.

With the ridiculous prices of defenseman on the open market, the Isles have the depth to continue to play MoneyHockey for the foreseeable future. That's an enviable position to be in.

Nice to hear. I know he got shut out in the first game. I'm really hoping he makes the WJC Team. Gives us someone else to watch.

On Wednesday and for the rest of the games, USA will be combined for one team. We should see a lot of him during the season, a lot of Minnesota"s games are on Fox college sports.
Cammarata just picked up another assist, 4-0 USA.

Good stuff. The kid certainly has a ton of talent, BUT, his size may hinder him every time he advances.

Strength and smarts will help him advance.....hope he has it in spades. Jason Blake without the attitude would be awesome.

agreed.

But his ability to produce against the best in the world, at his age group, is an important part of taking that next step.

I think he'll tear up the NCAA next year ala Paul Kariya crica 1993 where he had 100pts in 39 games.

That would be nice.

Kariya was a GIANT compared to Cammaretta, and also Kariya was an elite talent. Going into college. Nobody has had as a dominant Freshman season like Kariya in 1993 since.

Cammarata made one small step, making the cut as USA let go 12 players today to get down to one team. Here are Wednesday"s games.

Finland-Canada 1 PM
Sweden-USA 4 PM

I was half-kidding, yet half-making-a-bold-prediction about Cammarata and Kariya that I can play the "i told you so" card if it happens - yet nobody will remember if it doesn't happen.

But it would be nice to have an Isles prospect blow the NCAA away with some serious stats next season. Of course, who'll have the time to even notice, what with Tavares' attempt as the SECOND Islander to score 50in50, Hickey's Norris Trophy run, Kevin Poulin's consecutive shutouts and, of course, Matt Moulson's bid at his first (of many) Selke trohpies.

Or maybe I should stop drinking and HFing at work?

Good stuff Redbull, and believe me, I'll give you credit if Cammarata becomes the next Kariya, in fact I'd be thrilled to have you tell me "I told you so".

That would be A-MAZING. Odds are he is another Johnny Gaudreau, Jerry D'Amigo, Kyle Rau, TJ Tynan. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'd give you props, assuming of course they don't squish him like a bug first. If he was going to an OHL club I'd worry he wouldn't even get through rookie hazing.

Marty ST. Louis. 5'8 180 lbs. (current height and weight. i'm certain that he was quite a bit smaller when he was 17). some one forgot to tell him that he was too small. actually, i'm certain that there were many that judged him on size alone. can we put the whole 'size thing' to rest now?
