Steve Avery, the pitcher? I know you meant Sean Avery. I would not disrespect diamond by comparing him to that pos.

Actually diamond reminds me a lot of a younger Keith aucoin. Perhaps one day diamond can find his way to the NHL in a limited role like aucoin. But if not a damn good career in the ahl is a strong possibility if he keeps his edge and his health.

Seems to me like Diamond has Jason Blake heart and skating ability but not quite the same skill level but also has some Sean Avery in him meaning some Craziness to his game that can be good at times but also can be very bad as well.

More Patrixk Kaleta, less Sean (don't call me Steve) Avery

haha, the play by play and colour guys in that Theoret goal video.

"Theorit" and "Subbin".

Theoret and Subban. OHL announcers always butcher pronunciations.

Does the Diamond contract count towards the Islanders? If I recall when they announced it they worded it as a Bridgeport signing or is that all in the same?

Minor league contract. It will not count towards the 50.

On Friday April 19 the New York Islanders signed Joey Diamond to a two-way contract for the 2013-14 season. More than likely Diamond will play for Bridgeport next season but the Islanders own his rights. Snow @ the Islanders liked what they saw from Diamond after he signed with Bridgeport early this month and gave him a NHL entry level contract.

Diamond signed with the Islanders on a two-way entry level contract for the 2013-14 season. Its counts towards the 50 contracts for 2013-14 season!

Thanks, didn't know which he had signed. Was just trying to say that minor league contracts (Like Dalhusien, Miller, Wetmore) don't count towards the 50.

100% correct that Dalhusien, Miller and Wetmore dont count towards the 50 NHL contracts due to only being signed by Bridgeport for 2013-14 season.

Diamond- signed a amateur tryout agreement(ATO) with Bridgeport on 3/22/13 for the remainder of this season than on 4/19/13 NY Islanders signed him to a two-way entry level contract for 2013-14 season and hence will count towards the 50 NHL contracts for next season.

Theoret Strikes again. His 10th of the playoffs (leads OHL Playoffs in goals),. Barrie Leads 2-1 in 1st period. Highlight coming soon.

Athanasiou is a ton of fun to watch. If people think Lazar is fast they will be blown away by Andreas. He has Hagelin type speed.

I absolutely thought this the day of the draft. I thought this kid was gonna be a steal as he kept slipping.

Athanasiou had 1st round potential. The knock on him, and which had scouts frustrated, was he played too much of a perimeter game; a lot of stopping and circling instead of driving the net with his speed.

This year in Barrie he's utilizing his speed a lot better. He's also more consistent with his effort and it's showing up on the stat sheet.

he's weightless, like Grabner, fun to watch, lightning quick, good hands.

I'm surprised he went in the 4th round, I thought he'd be a 2nd round type pick just because he already has high-end NHL wheels and decent skills.

But it's top six or bust for this type of player. I don't mind a guy like Theoret who's just showing that he can be a leader, play a complementary role with high-end talent, big body, works hard - essentially another Matt Martin type player versus another boom-or-bust.

With that said, Athanasiou looks pretty impressive in junior. Wonder how his game will translate. He'll need to get much stronger to play in the NHL.

Athanasiou could easily be the next Rico Fata IMO.

I am pleased with Theoret. If he could be another Martin type of find, that would be great.

He left the game with 8 minutes to go with a cut. Being that they were down 5-2 at the time, it could have just been a precautionary thing. We'll find out tomorrow in Game 4.
