Hes young and gifted which is good, he just needs some time learning how to play better defense and when and when not to take risks and i think he will pan out fine.
Well said.

Gardiner looks like he could be our future #1 defenseman.

Pull a Brent Burns and turn him into a forward.

To say Gardiner has been "terrible" in his own zone, well I just don't see it.

Gardiner finally looking like his self. All he needed is a confidence boost. This game proved it. Since he got the goal last game he's been buzzing all over the ice. Wish there was another D on this team who could keep up with him.

But he has watched him in the past. His post is accurate and honest.

No big deal. JG is what he is. Let's just not make him into something he isn't.

Liles is the only other D that has the speed/puck skills that can kinda match Gardiner

I think he would be great on the wing. Fast as hell. Good hands. He has all the tools.

Who says he has to play on the blue line?

In a couple years there is a western boy who might be able to help realize that fantasy.

Best game Gards has played in his leaf career so far. Stud performance. he was a huge catalyst on the breakouts and his pinchs. He also played well defensively. I think people forget this guy is a 22 year-old defensemen, yet he put on a stellar perfomance by controlling the pace of the game with his skating-ability and vision.

I think if Gardiner ever gets a stay at home D partner they will become accustom to his style of play and realize in your own zone Keep Calm and give it to Jake will become our breakout, just like Ottawa with Karlsson. You really don't need a break out plan when you have a player with his skating and poise. Sure he makes mistakes, he isn't solid defensively but with the puck he is majestic and he can learn to be better defensively over time. You can't learn puckskills and skating like that, its a gift. Find a real #1 type Dman to play with him and move Dion to 2nd pairing - where he belongs.

The same Gardiner that stood toe to toe with Jagr and didn't let him pass? Idk I'd say the kid is on a different level and the other D needs to get on it.

I'm actually really excited about this team's future.. Aren't we the youngest team in the PO's? Maybe the Sens..? Anyway, our biggest weakness currently is our biggest strength in the prospect pool. Franson is a stud, Gards is a stud, Phaneuf and Gunnar are both pretty damn good. Add Rielly and Percy/Finn/Nilsson to that...

Gardiner/Rielly - Phaneuf
Gardiner/Rielly - Franson
Gunnarson - X

ohh the mobility...

Bad post. Wanna try again? He was great defensively tonight and has been great defensively since he came into the lineup in the playoffs.

Terrible defensively. Give your head a shake. Even at his worst he was never terrible defensively.

Gardiner-Gunnarson

2nd pairing.

**** the haters who wanted Gardiner traded. I've defended him all this time on this crazy board.
