His future is on our blue line.

I love that he threw some hits and was physical at times tonight. If he incorporates this in his game moving forward he'll be even more incredible a d-man.

Skating is still a thing of beauty. There's no way that he doesn't stick after this.

Led the D in TOI tonight. I think any ideas that RC doesn't like him or has limited confidence in his game are thoroughly debunked. This is the kind of playoff he needs to permanently step out of the AHL.

He can't go back down to the AHL anyways. No longer waiver exempt.

One of the commentators hit the nail on the head tonight. He looks like he really thinks he can play the game now, and play it well. He was missing that earlier in his chances although I still think Carlyle should have stuck with him. Confidence is a wonderful thing

Absolutely monstrous series so far. 4 points in 4 games, playing almost 23 minutes a game, gets chippy, taking the body, skating circles around Boston's defense. Beautiful. Full on beast mode.

Yup. Also I don't want to get carried away here but I think he has potential to be a Karlsson/Subban level player. He has the talent and skating. Very dynamic and special talent. It's up to him if he reaches that potential or not.

Great calm passes in every area of the ice, much better body positioning below the goal line in his own end. Big shot, it's just going to get better and better, untouchable.

So Gardiner's our best player.

That's pretty cool.

Jake Gardinmeyer has a nice ring to it.

nah, it just means that maybe just maybe he's finally worth enough to get the great Couturier back in a trade!

Played well on the offensive end.. that's to be expected with Jake - still has issues on the defensive end though, although he seems to be improving. I'm more impressed with the smart decisions he's making out there, and the clear reduction in his turnovers that he was prone to throughout this season when he was put in the lineup.

He still needs to work on his 1-on-1 defensive play, but he's definitely a lot cooler out there and his confidence is showing on every shift.

What a beaut! Future top pairing defenseman. Just his raw speed allows to range more freely on D. Guy could pinch to the goal and I wouldn't worry.

Noticed the puck is glued to his stuck too. Guy could help us play a possession game

Best of all, he makes it look seamless and easy

I think it will take 3 years before Rielly playing for the Leafs regularly, so by that time Jake Gardiner should be on our top pairing by then, if not next year.

On top of it all he is solid on his skates. He is not one of those puck moving D's that fall against the boards when you barely touch him.

although i still think gards is our biggest trade chip to get a #1 C... i wouldn't be sad to see a D with him and Rielly on the blueline... could be nasty

This is going to be ENORMOUS for his confidence next year. Not only does he natural skating, first pass, good shot, and the puck on a string, but he has the size and strength to be (eventually) solid in his own end and lay the body even.
