The Pens may have more of a glass jaw than previous years, even - though an Iginla/Morrow-led Pens team is still a challenge. I never knock their talent; just the tendency to whine from their owner down to their captain.

I think this Islander team could at least give the Pens a 7 game fight, with the injuries they're dealing with. Wouldn't that be a statement - 20 years after Ferraro-to-Volek, even.

Bailey is hotter than St. Lucia.

5G 9pts in last 11games, and a +7 - playing against opponent top lines.

Solid player.
Bailey is reason 1A we're where we are right now. So happy to see him grow in front of us.

Not to piss all over Okposo and Bailey but both of them the past couple seasons have grown infront of us between the first and second half.

Next year I suggest we just bench both for the first 40 games. lol

Again, beginning of both seasons they didn't play together. When they are on the same line together they play very well.

I also wonder what

Bailey - Tavares - Okposo

would feel like, but can't do it now.

Maybe next year?

Just got home from game. Awesome environment. Good crowd, cheering every clear on the PK, cheering individual shifts, yelling refs suck in unison. The empty netter was deafening! Brooklyn may be nice and fancy, but I'm gonna miss this barn.

Sorry I have to say something here. Do you really honestly believe this? It's just absurd. The refs were bad, but really? A vendetta that bad against us. In favor or friggin Tampa Bay? Tampa?!?! The league has an agenda to get Tampa Bay to win and/or Long Island to lose? Stop it.

Come on... there were just missed calls. No need to get dramatic.

Anyway.. let's go Isles. JJ better be in for the rest of the season. Everyone on this board who was saying we should expect a different player was DAMN right. He looks like a solid addition. Keep him in.

It seems like in general the whistles are being put away for all teams in the past month or so

Yes this. I've been watching a lot of other games. There was a big no call late in the devils game as well. These games are being called like the playoffs. It's good practice.

There is a few times int he past 10-15 games I said thank god we didn't get a penalty.

All that being said I understand not calling marginal calls but there was a moment this game where Cizikas gets a semi tackle from St Louis and I was like whatever when it wasn't called but then like 10 seconds later he gets tackled again. It's one thing to let them play, it's another to let them take advantage of lack of calls.

I have been watching a lot of other games and the refs are sitting back in all of them, not just ours.

Other thing...I thought I heard Howie say during the game that the Islanders have more home Power Plays than any other team. If true.....

The problem with the officiating:

I get the playoff-officiating angle. Yes that is what we saw. However if the Islanders had done the things I saw Tampa do in the third I expect that a call would have been made.

Just saying.

Lee vs. Joensuu. Lee needs time to adjust. Joensuu however really got better as the game proceeded. His third period was really good seeing him use his strength and at times his hustle. Another big body here to stay, or at least for now. He looks much more ready than Lee.

An if Brad Boyes hasn't proven that he is a useless piece of stuff this game, then I don't know what more will prove it. His turnovers are epic.

Martin really shined this game but his third period was just awesome. When we got screwed by the refs on the two blatant non-calls he just starting unloading on every body in reach. It seemed to energize the team who instead of going into "poor me" syndrome, seemed to wake up and get mad.

IMO, those two non-calls may end up being the catalyst that propels this club over it's next hurdle in growing up.

I was at the game... The refereeing was absolutely atrocious... It really helped us once that I saw (nabby missed poke check, though I didn't have a great angle on that) but there were soooo many missed calls... I saw elsewhere people were surprised at the holding call that sent the Isles to the PP? Lol, if it wasn't called I might've stormed the ice my self considering the lightning player was on the ice and pretty much upended McDonald with his arms...

Great atmosphere for the game regardless though!

Good. Burn your socks. The Hockey God's demand a sacrifice. Haha

Great win, so much heart and character on this team. Look at Martin and Cizikas. They look like they've been friends for years. Maybe Snow drafting with character being a high priority was a great move.
