Hah, I read that wrong and forgot to look along the line to the different year.

On that, reckon Pechurskiy will be let go when he's up?

As long as Pechurskiy stays in Russia, his contractual rights don't change, as in he could play in the KHL for the next 3 years and still be Pens property were he to come back over to North America.

Nice to see Hanowski scoring in his 1st game. Apparently he's already a legend with the Flames fans with his long hair that is close to Mueller status.

I haven't seen the goal, but I was always curious how his skating would translate and read from a lot of people here that it wasn't that good. So hearing him score in his 1st game, either people here are insanely wrong or it was a lucky goal.

I want to see hanowski do well. A) it'll hopefully ease the pain for flames fans who I have no personal vendetta against, and B) I think it may convince some of us here that, hey, maybe our gm does know how to draft forwards!

What does skating have to do with scoring goals?

He banged in a rebound from just outside the crease.

You don't need to be a good skater to do stuff like that, look at guys like Moulson.

Yeah, lack of speed hasn't stopped Matt Moulson among others.

Edit: Beaten by Zen.

Hanowski's goal (for those that didn't see it) was a garbage goal around the net. He has the size to get to those areas and bang in some dirty goals. He also has a heavy shot that he can unleash if Calgary can find him a playmaker. He's an intriguing prospect but you have to give to get a guy like Iginla.

Agreed. I've seen him play numerous times and he really didn't excite me much but he's got great size and has decent enough skill that he possibly can become a good depth guy in the pros down the road. It would be nice to add a couple good undrafted kids since we don't have our 1st or 2nd round picks this year. Hartzell was a good add.

His speed is eye popping (has to have a B2B under 2) and he thrives off of physical play. His hockey sense is just worrisome.

Just off his natural tools, speed and strength, he could become a really nice bottom sixer we really love.

His hockey sense has to get better and he has to slow things down, if not he won't be long for the NHL.

I really couldn't care less if we signed Laganiere. Think he's really overrated. The few times I saw him his skating looked brutal.

It's no a question of him turning out to be a superstar, but the fact that we don't have much depth up front in the minors and the fact that we ain't drafting before the 3rd round this year we can use a few signings and take our shot this way. Nothing to lose

Thanks for this.

Probably going to get the AHL package next year so that I can follow the prospects closer. Feels like the system is really deep and I want to know who to ***** about when they're traded for wingerz.

I don't disagree with that, although I will say I'd be shocked if we don't end up with a late 1st or 2nd rounder this draft (or, alternatively, get some good prospects in some deals over the summer).

I guess I should say I'm ambivalent. I also don't see Laganiere signing w/ us to develop in the AHL for a few years. And despite our prospect depth being pretty thin at F, we've got lots of depth at the NHL level.
